Solution Engineers at Kentik have the opportunity to help shape our product strategy and enable a broad set of use cases by working directly with our customers. <h3>What you'll do</h3> <ul> <li>Manage all technical aspects of the sales process including product demonstration, proof of concept, customer on-boarding, and feature requests</li> <li>Respond to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs</li> <li>Assist marketing in identifying opportunities to expand product marketing collateral to help close sales opportunities</li> <li>Champion of listening to customer requirements to channel product feedback and feature requests to the product management organization</li> <li>In collaboration with Customer Success, post-sales engineering check-ins with customers to maintain high customer success rates, share new features and product roadmap, and help customers integrate with their own in-house tools and systems</li> <li>Work in tandem with account team to meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual booking objectives</li> <li>Attend trade shows, conferences, and meetups</li> <li>Travel to customers in designated territory</li> </ul> <h3>What you'll bring</h3> <h4>Studies have shown that some candidates tend to apply to jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. We encourage you to apply if you meet most of the criteria - even if you don’t match all of the qualifications, your skills and experience could be valuable in this role!</h4> <ul> <li>5+ years experience in a high tech sales/solutions engineering or systems/network engineering role</li> <li>Ability to conduct technical conversations with prospects ranging from staff-level engineers and architects to senior executives</li> <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills</li> <li>Experience managing Cisco/Juniper routers and your own Linux servers</li> <li>Strong understanding of network and application protocols (e.g. DNS, BGP, Netflow, TCP/IP, HTTP, SNMP) and their use for infrastructure design and operations</li> <li>Programming proficiency in a scripting language</li> <li>Understanding of DDoS attacks and basic mitigation methods</li> <li>Willingness to travel as needed - supporting accounts on both the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts</li> </ul> Nice to haves: <ul> <li>Previous work experience selling to network and systems engineers and architects from Tier 1 and 2 carrier or large Enterprise accounts, especially in the Media and Entertainment industry</li> <li>Understand industry trends like SDI to IP, REMI (remote production), live-stream audio/video workflows, and multi-cloud.</li> <li>Background or product interest in security, performance, monitoring, and/or infrastructure space</li> <li>Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, Ansible, or Perl</li> <li>Basic database and/or SQL experience</li> <li>Familiarity with open source technologies such as LibreNMS, Elastic, Grafana, and Prometheus</li> <li>In depth knowledge of one or more public cloud architectures (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)</li> <li>Early member of a sales team at a hyper-growth startup </li> </ul> <h3>What we offer</h3> Kentik is a fully remote company that operates globally. Our compensation philosophy encompasses a fair program for all in order to attract, engage and retain talented individuals who will drive our business and wow our customers. The base salary range for this position is: $133,000 - $168,000, with an expected overall targeted earnings (OTE) range of: $190,000 - $240,000. The salary range and OTE reflect the low and high end of the U.S. range Kentik reasonably and generally expects to pay the hired candidate in this role.
