Executive Assistant

The Controller is responsible for overseeing and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, cash flow maintenance, preparation of financial statements and coordination of the annual audit. The Controller is responsible for providing intensive and timely assistance to the CFO, Senior Leadership, other departments within the Association, the Finance Committee, and the Board. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <ul> <li>Support aspects of accounting and grant management (billing, reporting, draws, filings, etc)</li> <li>Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices.</li> <li>Preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, along with explanations for significant variations from the budget.</li> <li>Manage journal entries and ensure that all accounts are being reconciled on a monthly basis.</li> <li>Assists in preparation of budgets and forecasts.</li> <li>Oversee preparation before and assistance during the annual audit.</li> <li>Assists with various administrative duties within the Association as needed, including, consulting with staff members and volunteers on projects, events, budgets, financials matters and new initiatives.</li> <li>Supervises, advises, appraises, and takes corrective action as necessary.</li> </ul> KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &amp; ABILITIES: <ul> <li>Proven experience as Controller or similar role.</li> <li>Bachelor’s degree in a business, finance, or related field.</li> <li>CPA or CPA eligibility preferred.</li> <li>Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, experience in Non-Profit</li> <li>Accounting and/or with Federal, State, or Local grants is preferred.</li> <li>Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, forecasts, reporting).</li> <li>Excellent knowledge and understanding of non-profit financial statements.</li> <li>Strong oral and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills.</li> <li>Proficient PC skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
