FlightSafety operates the world’s largest fleet of advanced full-flight simulators and award-winning maintenance training at Learning Centers and training locations in the United States, Canada, France and the United Kingdom. <h2>Purpose of Position</h2> Assist the Department Manager with resource management responsibilities over area assigned and function as Lead Engineer on assigned projects. <h2>Tasks and Responsibilities</h2> Assist the Department Manager with resource management responsibilities, including by not limited to: <ul> <li>Screening, interviewing and selection of applicants</li> <li>Department staffing levels, including submission, and tracking of requisitions</li> <li>Training of teammates to perform assigned duties</li> <li>Completion of annual appraisals</li> <li>Assigning teammates to project</li> </ul> Function as a Lead Engineer including but not limited to: <ul> <li>Act on behalf of the Director of Engineering for the assigned project</li> <li>Serve as primary Engineering interface to the customer, Program Office, Manufacturing, and outside vendors</li> <li>Aid Project Manager in the development of Engineering inputs to project budget and schedule</li> <li>Produce a Technical/Engineering Risk Assessment during pre-launch planning and aid the Project Manager in developing the overall Project Risk Assessment. Maintain the engineering risk assessment through the life of the project and keep it updated. </li> <li>In consultation with individual Resource Managers, coordinate actions of Engineering Teammates assigned to the project (administrative tasks remain purview of Resource Managers)</li> <li>Coordinate and lead technical exchanges with OEMs and vendors</li> <li>Oversee resolution of Engineering related project issues, both internal and external to FSS</li> <li>Provide feedback to resource managers on individual teammate performance for standout and poor performers to aid in preparation of annual appraisals</li> <li>Share best practices across all Lead Engineers</li> </ul> Other tasks include: <ul> <li>Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with both internal and external customers. Purpose of Position To develop software solutions for visual systems integration and simulation of systems external to the aircraft for use in pilot training. Must simulate or stimulate avionics, infrastructure, and aircraft environment. Is responsible for products from the planning and design phase, to the hardware integration phase, to the customer and certification authority verification, and continuing with ongoing customer support. Tasks and Responsibilities <ul> <li>Will work on a variety of devices, from Full Flight Simulators with six degree-of-freedom motions systems and wraparound visual systems to graphics-based desktop trainers.</li> <li>Implements all standard visual systems simulation software, datalink simulation software, and other simulated systems external to the aircraft (such as moving models, satellites, nav aids and radios, DMO/SAF servers, and electronic warfare systems), and integrates the software with that of other engineering disciplines (such as aircraft systems, flight, propulsion, autoflight systems, sound, instructor station, and image generators).</li> <li>If aircraft data is not available, assists in gathering data from aircraft or test benches to be used to re-engineer the aircraft avionics.</li> <li>Develops graphical representations of aircraft instruments and displays for lower level (desktop) trainers and re-engineered avionics in high-level trainers.</li> <li>Prepares customer test guides that will be used to verify that the simulation satisfies the simulator specification requirements. Performs standardized procedures to verify that the design meets the requirements of the customer test guide.</li> <li>Studies aircraft data (wiring diagrams, avionic specifications, etc.) to design real time software to accurately model the avionics’ behavior.</li> <li>Presents and demonstrates the simulator operation to the customer and corrects deficiencies identified by the customer.
