JOB TITLE: Wellness Center
REPORTS TO: Program Director and/or as assigned
FLSA TYPE: Non-Exempt, Hourly
JOB PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Director of Healthy Living or as assigned, the Wellness Center Staff will be part of the support staff that is responsible for meeting the needs of the membership. This is to be accomplished by maintaining an organized, clean facility, and providing exercise leadership and instruction when needed. All staff must strive to work cooperatively with fellow employees to achieve the goals and objectives of the YMCA.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not a complete list):
- Interpret and administer all policies established by the YMCA, to all members, participants, employees, etc.
- Maintain a neat and clean Wellness Center by performing all outlined cleaning duties and addressing any areas that need immediate attention.
- Interact with members in a friendly manner; greet by name
- Enforce Wellness Center rules and policies
- Professionally and courteously instruct members in safe and proper use of exercise equipment.
- Report problems, complaints or concerns of participants to supervisor in a timely fashion.
- Keep order throughout your shift (rack weights, pick-up used towels and litter, keep fitness desk tidy)
- Be familiar with all YMCA programs and know where to find information when you don’t know.
- Attendance at required training’s, workshops, and staff meetings.
- Be punctual and dependable.
Required:
- Must be 18 years old
- Must have outgoing personality, be energetic, communicate well with others
- Prior experience in the health and fitness field from either employment or self use;
- Must complete required training at the YMCA
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid/O2 Certification.
Preferred:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Bilingual - English/Spanish
- Understand the nature of the YMCA as a membership organization
