Job Summary
The Training Coordinator will be an active participant in the department’s vision to engage and support volunteers from their first experience with Girl Scouts through their last; to welcome them with a consistent and efficient process, in an inclusive environment for all adults in which their needs, competencies, skills, and interests are matched to their specific Girl Scout volunteer positions. This position will deliver the highest quality of training, support and recognition, valuing the contributions of each volunteer at every level of participation, and to help ensure that the Girl Scout volunteer experience is fulfilling for each individual.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and administer the council training function, including schedules, curriculum, supplies, tools, and budget and training records.
- Assess training needs and select the most appropriate delivery methods through virtual learning, in person, or blended training models.
- Works with technology, production software and production tools to create digital trainings.
- Recruits and supervise council volunteer trainers.
- Supports service unit managers and service unit administrative volunteers as they progress through the volunteer management system (recruitment, interviewing, screening, orientation, training, placement, tracking, recognition and release/resignation or reassignment).
- Provides a yearly SU Health analysis of each service unit to make recommendations to service unit managers and staff working with the service unit.
- Maintains forms and tools that support the service unit structure.
- Promotes training courses through production of the training calendar and any other methods that will increase attendance at training sessions.
- Cultivate and maintain collaborative links with other agencies, community organizations, businesses and corporations that provide and sustain training opportunities and events.
- Effectively utilize a networked database of adult volunteers, including accurately recording adult development and education attendance of volunteers and staff.
- Assists or project manage planning and coordinating large annual events.
- Writes reports and maintain and analyze statistical data.
- Consults with membership development managers and product programs to identify and coordinate specific training needs in areas they serve.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least one year of experience in a similar role.
- Experience in planning and coordinating events for large numbers of participants.
- Must have a valid driver's license within the state of employment.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong verbal communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Good presentation skills and ability to make effective presentations.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
Physical and Schedule Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Physically able to move through and between offices, program centers, and other off-site locations as needed.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends; occasional overnights as necessary, and ability to travel as job requires.
