Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Money Movement and Storage organization is working toward a future in which all of the complexity that comes with handling money (e.g. accepting different currencies, adopting new payment methods, integrating with hundreds of banks globally) is hidden from Stripe’s users. It is core to Stripe’s business and thousands of developers will use our platform and infrastructure to create valuable products and services that billions of people use.

The Technical Operations team in Money Movement and Storage is responsible for operating banking partner integrations, reporting and reconciliation operations across money movement funds flow to maintain data quality, accuracy, and timeliness. This team focuses on improving our metrics through automation, tooling, and partner specific improvements while also leading collaboration across teams including Money Movement and Storage Engineering, Partner Ops, and Accounting/Treasury teams on Stripe-wide improvements to reconciliation (engaging partners, improving operational tooling, and streamlining our operations).

What you’ll do

Technical Operations roles in Payments are a dynamic and key component of Stripe's success. Focused on financial partner operations, we sit at the intersection of product/platform engineers and financial partnerships, bridging them to ensure that everyone thrives and nothing is lost in translation.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across the company, including with engineering, accounting/treasury, financial partnerships and product teams, to develop and ensure that quality standards, performance metrics, and SLAs are met. And that company priorities translate into impactful outcomes for our team and our stakeholders.
  • Drive change management and process improvement initiatives that improve the quality of reconciliation data, the reliability of our operational systems, and increase efficiencies to meet the scale and speed of Stripe’s Global Payments and Treasury Network.
  • Manage on-going compliance initiatives, and champion operational rigor through data driven approaches.
  • Build and evolve your team - formalizing role definitions, defining charter and ownership boundaries, maintaining accountability, and coaching a high-functioning insights driven operations team. You will also influence and direct the priorities of our delivery center partners and hold them accountable to our performance measures.
  • Work collaboratively with platform engineering teams to find and solve issues, and drive engineering to improve their systems through routine audits, root cause analysis, and installing relevant quality/reliability standards.

Who you are

You’re someone who has a history of achieving outcomes through others, and experiences a sense of gratification when your team members grow and succeed. You’re a creative problem solver who finds a sense of accomplishment in finding and fixing things when they are suboptimal or broken, but has the ability to frame the right tradeoffs between our aspirational goals and the reality of our operations. You’re a critical thinker who thrives on putting order to chaos, and who can maintain objectivity during a crisis. Most of all you’re someone who inspires and motivates others to grow, and to have a positive impact on the team and Stripe.

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply.

You're not expected to have expertise across all of these areas! We have wonderful team members who focus on our customers' needs and build amazing user experiences, and didn't work on financial partner integrations before joining Stripe.

Minimum requirements

  • Have 2+years of people management experience
  • Have 5+ years of experience with data integrity expertise (reconciliation and manual data management, data quality assessment, data and reporting efficiency)
  • Strong cross-functional stakeholder focus, with the ability to communicate and build relationships with technical and non-technical teams across internal and external stakeholders (including external financial partners and vendors)
  • Have experience navigating the nuanced complexity of financial systems and solving large scale, data quality and reliability challenges
  • Have strong analytical skills to investigate, and identify the root cause of issues, and strong project/program management skills to prioritize competing priorities, and make necessary tradeoffs

Preferred qualifications

  • Payments expertise (working with financial partners connecting the dots between transactions, cash, and costs)
  • Operational expertise (measuring/improving manual processes, motivating/engaging an operations team, driving quality and efficiency standards)
  • Leading distributed or highly matrixed teams with a range of technical backgrounds, and a data analysis/business intelligence focus

This role is available either in an office or a remote location (typically, 35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $152,600 - $229,000. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
