What we do

Kentik is seeking a talented and passionate Senior Product Manager to join our team and sharpen our Service Provider portfolio as well as our Core Platform offering. Network Service Providers have been an integral part of Kentik’s early success and DNA and we are looking to augment the product team tasked with supporting them.

As a Product manager focused on Service Providers and our Core Platform, you will stand at the intersection of all customer, engineering and marketing teams, bringing them together to build and support products that matter and forever change the face of Network Observability. Through drive and an analytical mindset, you will turn customer interactions into product, oversee their development with engineering and launch them with our Product Marketing team to delight customers.

What you'll do

  • Understand and map out requirements for Kentik’s current or future customers, by teaming up with our customers directly, and with our Customer Success and Sales Engineering teams.
  • Qualify, define, build and evolve product requirements to satisfy our current user base and expand to new ones, and support Design and Engineering teams who build them
  • Roadmap and orchestrate the development of these new features, support their timely delivery and lifecycle, be the internal and customer champion who owns them
  • Evangelize, train, document internally and externally for use cases, market segments and point features as well as the mid & long term vision our product line.
  • Devise and support new ways to visualize and analyze Network Performance, and be a champion for our users with the UX and UI of Kentik’s User Portal.
  • Facilitate and maintain a high level of transparency and alignment within the company on short/mid/long term vision and feature release schedules.
  • Own adoption metrics around your portfolio and pull from them extensively for analytical product decision making and adoption tracking

What you'll bring

Studies have shown that some candidates tend to apply to jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. We encourage you to apply if you meet most of the criteria - even if you don’t match all of the qualifications, your skills and experience could be valuable in this role!

  • 5+ years experience of Product Management or Engineering in one or more of these areas: Network Engineering, Network Management Systems, Network Performance Management, Network Performance/Monitoring, DDoS detection and mitigation
  • You have up-to-date working knowledge of standard networking technologies: TCP/IP, Routing, BGP, SNMP, Streaming Telemetry, Network Flow Monitoring
  • You display above-average technical acumen and feel safe juggling a diverse set of protocols and technologies, as well as you trust yourself with explaining these to Engineers and/or designers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and a taste for presenting ideas
  • Strong collaboration skills - you will need to communicate effectively with and orchestrate many other functions within the organization
  • Well versed in the Engineering or Operational practices at key types of players of the Service Provider focused networking industry: ISPs, Telcos, Carriers, Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), Hosting Providers, Internet Exchanges, Datacenters
  • You don't only craft products, you deliver the accompanying vision and strive to deliver a compact yet clearly defined message around it to both customers and partners within the company
  • Ability to drive project independently - our staff is geographically distributed, and our employees need to be able to map out steps towards a successful future target
  • Creative and curious mindset - whether it is code or design, you are curious by nature and eager to learn the tools of adjacent trades to build your products
  • Passionate about UX and interface design - because design is an integral part of any feature we deliver
