Job Description

The Senior Accounting Supervisor, Control Operations applies knowledge of GAAP, SOX internal controls, and banking best practices to lead a team of professionals who administer and support users of a variety of financial applications that enforce internal controls across the organization. He or she evaluates access to transactions with direct financial impact to internal and external customers, manages account reconciliation quality control initiatives, and develops internal control and process improvements.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • You will enforce user access controls for customer accounts, ACH transactions, and general ledger entries impacting BOKF profitability.
  • You will design and evaluate transaction structure changes in accordance with GAAP.
  • You will recall policies across business lines to evaluate, decide, and document user change requests and accounting approvals.
  • You will manage and improve internal controls and efficiency within REGIS and ICAP applications.
  • You will periodically enable non-standard REGIS access for customer-facing business lines to address widespread errors.
  • You will monitor high-risk reconciliations, use data analytics to identify anomalies, and present findings to senior management.
  • You will support auditors with process documentation and testing to ensure REGIS and ICAP controls are effective.
  • You will coach and mentor a team of accountants, focusing on engagement and development for future contributions.

Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and 8+ years related experience in progressive accounting roles, including 3+ years supervising a high functioning team or equivalent combination of education and experience. Financial services industry experience strongly preferred.

  • Advanced understanding of GAAP and internal controls
  • Moderate working ability to research and understand technical accounting topics
  • Strong PC skills including spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications
  • Experience in compiling and analyzing raw data to identify trends and anomalies and draw conclusions, using tools such as Microsoft PowerBI.
  • Excellent communication skills in order to explain accounting concepts and resolve problems
  • Effective problem-solving skills in order to identify and resolve internal control deficiencies and financial discrepancies
  • Solid understanding of IRS reporting requirements applicable to payments to non-employees
  • Demonstrated progress toward CPA license preferred, as license may be required for advancement
