Position Information Position Title Special Services Worker Job Description Responsible for performing a variety of maintenance duties that support services provided by the Facilities Management. Essential Functions (Responsibilities):- Operates power and hand tools such as drills, saws, grinders, and high-pressure washers.
- Assembles and disassembles special set-up equipment such as staging, ramps, partitions, and scaffolding.
- Power washes building surfaces, entrances, windows, sidewalks, and driveways.
- Moves office and classroom furnishings and supplies by hand, utilizing dollies or utilizing pallet jacks.
- Maintains campus parking lots, traffic control, and building identification signs.
- Performs general maintenance in athletic facilities as well as event setup and execution within those facilities, including maintenance of scoreboards, sound and lighting systems.
- Sets up and takes down furniture, fixtures and equipment for events, conference, meetings, and other special activities.
- Assists in receiving and delivering incoming shipments.
- Assists with recycling program.
- Assists building maintenance personnel as needed.
- Escorts contractors as needed.
- Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance concepts and hand tools.
- Basic mathematics skills including adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying.
- Ability to communicate in order to act upon written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and complete assigned work, and act with a sense of urgency.
- Proficient with basic cell phone and/or tablet operation, including the ability to process and respond to emails and to maintain records on smart device.
- Strong customer service with a can-do attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
Previous experience in a facilities management environment
Class B commercial driver’s license preferred. Class B Commercial Driver’s license Physical Demands Work requires ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting (up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally), bending (frequently), pushing (frequently), pulling (frequently), stooping (frequently), carrying (frequently and up to 50 pounds), working in tight/cramped spaces, climbing stairs and ladders while carrying, and lifting overhead (occasionally and up to 40 pounds); exposure to disagreeable odors and environmental conditions; ability to see and read; ability to hear and speak in order to receive and convey instructions; willingness and ability to work in adverse weather conditions. This position may be required to work overtime, nights, weekends or holidays in order to fulfill essential service requirements such as during inclement weather or other events.
