Role Value Proposition:
This role will be responsible for development and management of MetLife’s Group Accident and Health products in the Group Voluntary Worksite Benefits division. As an experienced product manager, the individual will build products from new and existing ideas based on industry experience and deep understanding of customer and marketplace needs. They will set product line strategy and the product life cycle road map. The candidate will evaluate and measure market research data and competitive landscape to identify future trends, opportunities and emerging solutions to inform future strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide product development and project management expertise for supplemental health voluntary/worksite products (Critical Illness/Cancer, Accident, and Hospital Indemnity).
- Establish product positioning and manage product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.
- Drive launch deliverables by working closely with key internal partners such as Actuarial, Contracts, Operations, Technology, Training and Sales to bring new and enhanced offerings to market.
- Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research.
- Perform competitive analysis to develop and implement go-to-market plans, working with all departments to execute.
- Lead cross functional teams on complex projects to develop large/critical products.
- Act as project lead and provide guidance to junior staff members.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- Experience in insurance product development and/or accident and health product experience
- Excellent facilitation and negotiation skills
- Understanding of U.S. Employee Benefits Industry.
- Ability to navigate, build and leverage internal relationships in a large matrix organization
- Goal oriented and personally accountable; resourceful and self-directed to meet deadlines
- Can apply innovative and creating thinking – seeks “out of box” solutions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively on multiple projects in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and support market facing teams
- High School Diploma/GED
Preferred:
- 6-8+ years of experience within group benefits and/or insurance product development
- Previous experience in strategic planning and management of product life cycle
- BA/BS Degree
- Group Voluntary Benefits experience
