
Senior Planner
Job Description
Under general supervision, performs professional planning duties.
*This position performs duties deemed to be “safety sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City’s policies*Essential Job Functions

- Prepares staff reports for the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment.
- Attends pre-development meetings that involve rezoning, plats, and site plans; and presents and describes planning requirements.
- Answers questions from consultants, developers, engineers, planners, landscape architects, and the general public.
- Serves as the point of contact for Building Inspectors and Code Enforcement personnel regarding questions pertaining to zoning ordinance requirements.
- Reviews and approves all final plats, site plans, and landscape plans.
- Reviews and revises legal notices for Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment meetings; and prepares maps for installation of legal notice signs.
- Attends and participates in Technical Advisory Committee, Planning Commission, and Board of Adjustment meetings.
- Reviews and approves warranty deeds for lot splits.
- Prepares requests regarding amendments to the zoning map.
- Assists the Plan Development Manager in the performance of his or her duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, supplemented by three to five years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Physical Requirements
Tasks involve the ability to exert minimal physical effort in sedentary work, typically involving some combination of balancing, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
