About the team

The Zillow Group Compliance team devises and deploys operational compliance systems across the enterprise to ensure that Zillow remains in compliance with state, federal and local laws and internal policies. We are a growing compliance group that is passionate about excellence throughout all of our service offerings. Our team works closely with all Zillow departments, but most particularly with our highly-regulated lines of business such as Zillow Home Loans, Zillow Group Marketplace, Zillow Insurance Services, and our real estate brokerage, title and escrow operations. We also lead highly regulated activities with our enterprise-wide programs for Privacy, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, IT security controls, consumer complaints/call monitoring, payment card, and fair housing/fair lending issues.

In addition, we provide compliance services to Zillow’s core functional areas, including the Product Development, IT Security, Enterprise Risk Management, Government Relations and Marketing teams. We define and integrate a compliance-by-design framework across Zillow’s operations, products and services. About the role

We are seeking a driven, highly accountable strategist to join the Legal & Compliance Operations Team in a senior leadership role. You will continuously assess our internal compliance operating methods for potential improvement, including opportunities in artificial intelligence, automation, consolidation, and increased performance; collaborate to improve our compliance systems and tools; and work to standardize compliance operations across all compliance teams. Reporting to the Director of Operations and Strategy for Legal & Compliance and collaborating closely with the Vice President of Compliance, you will drive the Compliance rhythm of business, innovate internal team metrics and reporting, align working norms across multiple Compliance teams, and integrate artificial intelligence into Compliance methods.

You will also develop, by design, strategic methods of communication and collaboration between the Legal team and the Compliance team to facilitate continuously transparent operations between the teams as they work both internally and outwardly across the enterprise.

You will assist the Compliance teams to work across the company to build Compliance requirements, by design, into Zillow’s daily operations. You will drive key compliance initiatives to completion through close collaboration with business partners and compliance leaders. You will contribute to and handle the project information flowing to a diverse group of collaborators, and hold all parties accountable during program development and deployment. Key Responsibilities:

This role will assess and improve compliance operations by developing uniform operational procedures, consolidating functions, standardizing reporting metrics, and improving compliance program documentation. In addition, you will:

  • Critically examine, improve and thereafter drive our compliance strategy and internal business rhythm as an embedded member of the Compliance leadership team. This will include conducting SWOT and Gap analyses, analyzing employee engagement data, and thereafter leading strategic organizational initiatives based on your analyses.

  • Critically examine, measure and thereafter innovate Compliance operational methods, tools and processes.

  • Identify, assess and champion artificial intelligence and automation into Compliance operations. You will also identify technology systems that enhance operations and configure those systems for use across the Compliance teams.

  • Drive operational efficiency including consolidation, standardization, and automation of functions, staffing, and methodologies.

  • Identify and introduce innovative methods for annual planning, quarterly goal-setting, and monthly business reviews, while also assisting with the management of department budget, contractors, and vendors.

  • Independently handle large, cross-functional projects that impact multiple collaborator, driving the project scoping, planning, execution, and successful change management and communications. For these cross-functional initiatives, you will collaborate with Compliance leadership to act as a Compliance liaison to product and technology partners for the pursuit of major compliance initiatives, prioritization of the Compliance backlog, significant new technology implementations, and large-sized business process improvement initiatives.

  • Assess and improve internal operations by facilitating the development of uniform operational procedures, consolidating functions, standardizing reporting metrics, and improving compliance program documentation.

  • Advocate for the adoption of a standardized system for drafting, adopting and periodically reviewing key policy and procedural documents across the enterprise.

  • Design and develop effective communication channels for the Compliance teams and its partner teams in the Legal department and thereafter facilitate the free and transparent flow of project-related information between these teams.

  • Build and maintain strong and trusted relationships with internal and external collaborators.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $127,100.00 - $203,000.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

The ideal candidate has a strong background in creating operational strategies for a large, multi-disciplinary organization and a deep understanding of data and information management, process alignment, and their potential impact on business operations. You need experience in the management of sophisticated cross-functional workstreams from conception to completion within stated SLAs, along with a deep understanding of process alignment, data and information management, and potential impact of compliance controls on business operations. You should be able to work successfully in a remote work environment through self-motivation, clear communication, and management of your workload and schedule. Strong project management, technology, and organizational skills are important to your success in this role.

You should possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 8-10 years of experience as senior compliance leader or strategic operations leader, along with shown leadership in compliance theory, sophisticated project management, technology management, and/or data management.
