Senior Director of Information Technology

The Senior Director of Information Technology is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing technical aspects of the IT department, partnering to develop and implement technology strategies, managing costs to meet budget goals, and ensuring the alignment of IT initiatives with Cherokee Federal’s business objectives. This role requires strong management of IT governance and controls, the ability to implement technological innovation as determined by executive leadership, and the development of IT leaders and team members while maintaining a focus on operational efficiency, security, and compliance.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Senior Director of Information Technology: Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Senior Director of Information Technology Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the Development and execute the IT strategy aligned with Cherokee Federal’s goals and objectives.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the IT department, including infrastructure, applications, and security.
  • Execute on defined digital transformation initiatives and promote the adoption of emerging technologies.
  • Lead and manage the technical aspects of the IT department, including recruitment, performance management, and technical development.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and solutions.
  • Execute governance and control practices within IT to ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and certification requirements.
  • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of IT systems and services.
  • Enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure operational efficiency and data security.
  • Monitor and manage assigned IT budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and adherence to financial constraints.
  • Support the Development and implement IT security strategies to protect the organization’s data and systems from cyber threats.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and policies, including federal, state, and industry-specific requirements.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate as requested with executive leadership and other key stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into IT solutions.
  • Provide guidance and support to other departments on IT-related matters.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Senior Director of Information Technology Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree or advanced certifications (e.g., PMP, CISSP) preferred.
  • Minimum of 11 years of progressive experience in IT management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading IT teams and managing large-scale technology projects.
  • Experience in the federal government or similar regulated environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Deep knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, and emerging technologies.
  • Expertise in IT security, risk management, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic and innovative mindset.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
