Career Band: Technical Support

Job Level: T3

Accurate design and realization of engineering drawings (90%)

  • Prepare neat, clear, accurate and complete 3D models, dimensional drawings, and layouts, for new products and/or improvements of existing products.
  • Check and ensure that bills of material are structured correctly and comply with TDW standards.
  • Prepare documents with essential information /dimensions/part numbers for customer, quality control, marketing, and field personnel.
  • Oversee changes and/or revisions to existing drawings or other documentation.
  • Check work product of others for accuracy and completeness to ensure that product can be produced in accordance to specifications and function as designed. This is to include but may not be limited to:
  • Checking all dimensions and weights for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensuring the drawings meet the requirements of the TDW drafting manual, current drafting practice standards, and current design standards.
  • Ensuring all customer and company specifications are met.
  • Ensuring the drawing contains all the necessary procedures required for fabrication, finishing, inspection, testing and any other special requirements.
  • Ensuring that bill of material structuring is compatible with the TDW operating system.

Analysis and materials selection (10%)

  • Under direction of engineering, perform calculations per design standards, codes, tolerance stack ups etc.
  • Take a lead role in getting part numbers assigned for various documents as required.
  • Responsible for selecting proper material for design project and routine orders.
  • Noted ability to actively switch between work activities, prioritize tasks, and work well under pressure of deadlines, etc.
  • Demonstrate Initiative to ensure that work is completed appropriately, within schedule, and on budget.

Relationships with others

  • Reports to the Engineering Manager and works closely with the other team members within the Engineering department.

Customer Orientation

  • Ensures that the Engineering department is supplying the other departments with the appropriate information and material in due time to ensure customer’s satisfaction by the delivery of appropriate products and solutions.

Knowledge, skills & abilities required

  • Minimum 2 year/associate degree, technical certification in drafting/design plus 5 years technical work experience OR bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of experience in mechanical drafting, design or engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience in fields related to mechanical/machine drafting using CAD tools to create sketches, drawings, and manufacturing documents in a technical environment in compliance with applicable ANSII standards and code.
  • Working knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, pre-engineering mathematics
  • Must possess a strong, demonstrable mechanical aptitude.
  • Must possess a strong working knowledge of applicable standards, codes, and processes.
  • Good communication skills,
  • Proactive, well organized, stress resistant and rigorous.
