The VITA Site Coordinator will review tax returns for accuracy, contact taxpayers to review the tax returns with them, assure that e-file authorization is received and e-file the tax return or arrange for the taxpayer to receive the completed tax return. The VITA Site Coordinator will answer questions from tax return preparers regarding returns they are working and may contact taxpayers for additional tax-related information to prepare accurate tax returns. The VITA Site Coordinator will follow up timely with taxpayers to correct rejected tax returns. The VITA Site Coordinator will contact taxpayers who have returns that are out of scope for VITA to refer the taxpayers to paid preparers or other resources.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Certify annually with IRS as a tax preparer at the Advanced Level.
- Complete annually IRS training required to be a VITA Site Coordinator.
- Assure that IRS Volunteer Standards of Conduct and Quality Site Requirements are met.
- Assure that all taxpayers are told that the tax return is prepared with the information that was provided to the tax preparer and that the taxpayer is responsible for the accuracy for the tax return.
- Use online tools for client management, tax return preparation and other tasks as needed.
- Attend scheduled VITA team meetings.
- Reviews and is familiar with Goodwill Industries of Tulsa safety policies, programs and procedures. Adheres to all safety rules, regulations and safety codes, and attends safety training sessions and safety meetings.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must maintain compliance with Goodwill’s Drug and Alcohol Abuse Policy.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Certification with IRS as a tax preparer at the Advanced Level.
- Completion of IRS training as a VITA Site Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Bilingual preferred, speaking English as well as Spanish, Zomi or Burmese.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use an online client management database.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Talking, hearing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, fingering, carrying, seeing and accommodation
- Lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling Light work – Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job is included in this category when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree, or when it involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling or arm and/or leg controls.
