This role is instrumental in developing accurate and compliant product safety data sheets and hazard labels. The SDS Author will utilize and manage the company's chemical hazard data and the software systems essential for product classification.


Primary Responsibilities

· Creates and revises safety data sheets (SDS) and product labels utilizing advanced authoring and label software.

· Submit completed SDS’s to Chemtrec.

· Maintain electronic copies of SDS’s in the company database.

· Conduct regulatory reviews of external customer authored SDSs and labels as necessary.

· Utilize expertise in laws and regulations governing SDS authoring, hazardous chemical management, and basic knowledge of EHS & Regulatory laws.

· Determine Hazard Assessments and SDS phrases based on thorough assessments.

· Provide precise and up-to-date information to internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with domestic and international regulations.

· Proactively research pending regulations and upcoming requirements within specified time frames

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in physical or biological sciences preferred.

· 2+ years of prior authoring experience.

· Demonstrated knowledge of domestic and international regulations, including OSHA, DOT, EPA, REACH, and GHS.

· Certifications for DOT, IATA, and IMDG transportation requirements preferred.

· Knowledge of chemical compounds, families, and products.

· Excellent organizational skills.

· Ability to work independently with minimal technical oversight.

· Strong time management skills for critical deliverables within established deadlines, considering changing business priorities.

· Strong communication skills, both oral and written, for effective interaction with employees at all levels.

· Proficiency in standard office software and familiarity with SDS Authoring & ERP software.

· Strong analytical and reasoning skills.

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
