Position Information Position Title Research Engineer Job Description The Research Engineer will contribute to research activities for the Robotics Institute at the University of Tulsa. They will be responsible for operating required experimental equipment, supporting research activities, maintaining equipment, and providing support to Institute faculty, researchers, and students.Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
- Install, commission, maintain, and operate the required facilities and acquire data.
- Assist the research associates and faculty in developing and deploying hardware and software in research environments
- Participate in technical meetings as required.
- Support the preparation of technical reports and papers.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field
- Experience in a computer language such as Python or Matlab
- Knowledge of robotics
- Experience installing and commissioning mechanical equipment
Required Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Familiarity with work in research facilities
- Competence in computer programming and/or coding
- Prior research experience
- Record of scholarly publication
- Typing/Keyboarding: Proficiency in typing and using a computer keyboard for extended periods.
- Speaking: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Reaching: Ability to reach for items on shelves or in cabinets.
- Manual Dexterity: Ability to use hands and fingers to operate control panels and wire delicate electronics
- Ability to work outdoors; requires standing, squatting, reaching and lifting more than 50 pounds occasionally.
