Job Summary

Use some judgement to comply with instructions provided by the supervisor, leads, coordinates, and participates in activities involved in carpentry and general construction projects by performing the following duties

Job Description

All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. External job applicants with a confirmed positive drug or alcohol test result shall be denied employment and shall be required to wait one year before applying for another position within Tulsa County.

Essential Job Functions

  • Must have the ability to plan and work on projects at different locations.
  • Maintain safe working conditions; identify and correct or report unsafe conditions in work areas.
  • Assist with coordinating, and participate in activities involved in carpentry, construction, and repair projects at recreational locations.
  • Assist with coordinating and participate in activities involved in painting and re-finishing surfaces on the inside and outside of recreational locations.
  • Assist with preparing work drawings and reading blueprints.
  • Obtain quotes and order necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
  • Estimate man hours and materials for work assignments.
  • Assist with overseeing and inspecting the work performed by outside contractors for remodeling.
  • Inspect progress of work assignments and completed projects to determine conformance with trade standards.
  • Transport tools, equipment, and supplies to the job site.
  • Schedule and review assigned work orders.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
  • May train new employees.
  • Assume the duties of the Recreational Coordinator in their absence.
  • Snow removal, sandbagging, and cleaning of properties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of general construction and carpentry; standards practices, methods, tools, and materials of the carpentry or general construction trade; and occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades.

Skill in scheduling and supervising the work of others; in carpentry; in general construction work; and in estimating materials and man hours.

Ability to perform carpentry, construction, and general contracting work; to make material and man-hour estimates; to give work assignments; to read blueprints; and to work with and through others.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should know Internet software.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This Job has occasional supervisory responsibilities, in the absence of the Recreational Coordinator. Must be willing to assume the duties of the coordinator in their absence.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and broad trade knowledge, equivalent to two years in training received in a formal apprentice program plus five years of satisfactory full-time paid employment in general carpentry or a related job; or any equivalent combination of education or experience; substituting one year of satisfactory full time paid employment for the year of the required education, with a maximum substitution of two years.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work subtracting, multiplying, dividing fractions, and the fundamentals of place and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions and percentages to situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License

Valid Class “A” CDL with air brake endorsement, preferred
