**Background**
A key project of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission was the creation of a world-class history facility to showcase Tulsa’s Historic Greenwood District. The museum-grade exhibition, “Greenwood Rising,” tells the story of the original Black Wall Street and reconnects this iconic African American enclave. The facility is designed by Local Projects, a New York firm who helped design the 911 Museum and curated by author/historian Hannibal B. Johnson.
The overarching theme for Greenwood Rising, “The Human Spirit,” speaks to the dignity of a people who turned trials, tribulations, and tragedy into a triumph.
**Position Summary**
The Program Coordinator will report to the Executive Director, and will support the development, implementation, and evaluation of engaging educational programs and community initiatives that honor the legacy of the Greenwood District and promote cultural awareness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in program management, a commitment to community engagement, and a deep appreciation for history and education. The successful candidate will be able to organize, prioritize work, act with initiative and good judgment while ensuring the Executive Director is kept informed of progress and activities. They must be able to handle multiple, concurrent tasks in an effective manner as this position will work closely with both the Operations Leader and Development Specialist.

●Design and implement educational programs, workshops, and events that align with the museum's mission and highlight the history of the Greenwood District.
● Build and maintain relationships with local schools and community organizations to enhance outreach and participation in museum programs.
●Plan and execute special events, lectures, and public programs, overseeing all logistical aspects such as scheduling, materials preparation, and participant registration.
●Work in close collaboration with the Development Specialist to collect and analyze participant feedback and program data to assess effectiveness and provide insights for future programming.
●Facilitate museum visits for various audiences, including student organizations, K-12 groups, life-long learners, and community groups.
●Work closely with the Executive Director, Operations Leader, Development Specialist, university departments, and community partners to develop, implement, and oversee the museum's schedule of public programs that align with the organization's mission, vision and goals.
●Engage in best practices for bringing diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion, and decolonizing principles to all museum programs.
●Work closely with the Executive Director, Operations Leader, and Development Specialist to ensure cohesive programming and alignment with institutional goals.
●Stay informed about best practices in museum education and community engagement, seeking opportunities for professional development and program enhancement.
● Work closely with the development specialist to prepare reports and presentations to communicate program outcomes to museum leadership.
●Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

- Ability to pay close and accurate attention to details.
- Organization and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of institutional history and programs.
- Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources.
_**Supervision Received**_
The Program Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director. Work is performed under general direction, with the Executive Director setting overall objectives and determining resources available. The Program Coordinator, in consultation, develops specific goals and business plans. Work is reviewed periodically for adherence to established production, staffing, and objectives, effective and efficient functioning of operations, and adequacy of professional judgment.

No supervisory responsibilities.
_**Education and Experience**_
● Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and/or at least 2 years of similar work-related experience preferred
● A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role in a museum, history center, or similar environment preferred
**Work Environment and Physical Demands**
This position is a full-time, exempt position with typical hours of Monday-Friday 8:30-5:30 with occasional weekend work and hours in excess of 40. Work takes place primarily in the museum/office setting with some hybrid work time as well. This position involves frequent talking, sitting, standing walking, bending, stooping, and squatting. Occasional travel may be required.
