Job Summary: The Product Manager is responsible for developing product line strategies and roadmaps which deliver profitable growth and meet market requirements. This includes managing the product throughout the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing customer product requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering to deliver successful products. The product manager works cross-functionally with all business departments to support the company’s overall strategy and goals.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Defines the product strategy and roadmap via multi-generation product/technology plans.
- Delivers business cases and product requirements with prioritized features and corresponding justification.
- Works with customers to understands product needs.
- Knows and explains product features/benefits, understands/sells the full product line, understands customer's business operations and needs, understands/responds to the competition, applies market knowledge.
- Understands regulatory changes and how it impacts products and strategies.
- Researches and understands the competitive landscape.
- Uses the analysis of critical factors and variables that will influence long-term success.
- Becomes an expert with respect to the products, applications, competition and the markets through use of available tools and resources.
- Develops the core positioning, value proposition and messaging for the product.
- Collaborates with engineering, supply chain and manufacturing in the product development process to ensure product requirements are met.
- Performs product training presentations to customers, builds customer confidence, is committed to increasing customer satisfaction, sets achievable customer expectations, assumes responsibility for solving customer problems, ensures commitments to customers are met, solicits opinions and ideas from customers, and responds to internal customers.
- Creates accurate and punctual reports, delivers presentations, and shares information and ideas with stakeholders.
- Establishes pricing strategy to meet revenue and profitability goals, while monitoring and adjusting tactical pricing to ensure compliance.
- Delivers a monthly sales forecast and is a critical part of a monthly SIOP process.
- Supports the development of sales tools and collateral.
- Generates new ideas, challenges the status quo, takes risks, supports change, encourages innovation, solves problems creatively.
- Supports sustaining activities, such as material productivity, supplier obsolescence and shortages.
- Briefs and trains the sales force as needed.
- Keeps knowledge up to date, following technology practices and standards, and is a technical resource for others.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering, and a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Product Manager, or related role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Deep knowledge of HVAC products.
- Strong technical knowledge and skills; understanding of mechanical equipment operation and application.
- Critical thinking skills using analytical reasoning, problem solving, and adaptability to make good strategic decisions.
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and with good listening skills.
- Strong customer focus skills to understand customer needs and build trusting relationships.
- Knowledge of innovation strategies and demonstrated ability to deliver creative solutions.
Work Environment:
- Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time.
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment but may require periodic visits to manufacturing facilities with exposure to loud noises, seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and chemical fumes.
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
