Your opportunity

The Product Engineer produces designs and redesigns of new and existing products to complement and enhance product offerings and continually improve quality. Individual projects include testing, prototyping, and documentation to develop skills to minimize production costs and sustain a competitive advantage.

What you’ll be doing

  • With oversight, develop new product designs and redesigns in coordination with sales, marketing and manufacturing functions.
  • Prepare bill-of-materials on new and changed designs and special design requests under direction of design team.
  • Assist the release of design into production, including any necessary testing and training required for implementing new or changed designs.
  • Evaluate basic material selection, cost analysis, and vendors as required to implement new designs. Review, along with purchasing personnel, the selection and specification of new purchased component parts for product designs.
  • Participate the prototyping and testing of new designs, including the interpretation of test results. May be required to set up and run test equipment.
  • Participate in the testing and reviewing of new designs, interpreting test data and recommending and/or implementing necessary corrective action based on test data. May interface with agencies associated with certifying products (AMCA, UL, etc.).
  • Assist with technical consultation internally to sales and marketing personnel and externally to customers.
  • Maintain close contact with the shop floor and listen to the problems and ideas. Responsible for bringing issues back to the engineering team for further evaluation.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation for production, manufacturing, and engineering.
  • May assist on job sites to review installation and/or design problems and make a determination to resolve the situation.
  • Participate in value engineering/design for manufacturing assembly on individual product on an ongoing basis to continually improve designs and processes.
  • May participate in any/all external agency approval (i.e., U.L. AMCA for products).
  • Manage basic individual projects in accordance with predetermined completion dates.
  • Provide mentoring, training, and/or indirect supervision of other team members.
  • Support production and manufacturing quality management system and policies.
  • Assist with the planning, defining and testing of the product selection software.

What you should have

  • 0-2 years of relevant work experience in engineering required.
  • 2 Year / Associate Degree in engineering or equivalent years of job experience required.
  • 4 Year / bachelor’s degree preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Greenheck Group takes pride in providing competitive pay along with a comprehensive benefits package as part of our total rewards program. The starting base pay range for this position is $73,000-$90,000 and may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer and phone. Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The person is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data, and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. There is an occasional need for walking short distances.
