As part of the Kito Crosby team, you will be supporting channel partners and end users around the world using Kito Crosby products in mission critical applications ranging from development of renewable power, space exploration, national defense, manufacturing and infrastructure development.

Job Summary

The Product Development Engineer is responsible for new product development and enhancement of existing products. Development includes interpreting design requirements, creating 3-D computer models and manufacturing prints and other associated documentation, performing stress analysis, testing and verification of product designs. Will also provide assistance to manufacturing groups and/or vendors involved with production. The products will be manufactured using a variety of methods including machining, casting (investment, shell, sand, etc.) and forging.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential)

  1. Interpret and understand design requirements which may be presented verbally, in written description, as a sketch or detailed schematic, as a mockup or model, or as CAD data. This may include direct interface with customer representatives.*
  2. Utilize individual and group critical thinking and problem solving skills to resolve design issues.*
  3. Interpret and understand third party specifications such as those developed by ABS, ANSI, API, ASME, ASTM, DIN, DNV, ISO, MIL, EN, etc.*
  4. Perform research and experimentation when available information is insufficient for a given task.*
  5. Perform any necessary Engineering calculations to ensure compliance with all requirements.*
  6. Refine designs into optimum configurations that meet the performance criteria while minimizing cost and lead time.*
  7. Utilize Creo to model parts and assemblies from conceptual stage through entire development, while following accepted best practices and adhering to company standards.*
  8. Utilize Creo to create manufacturing prints, customer prints, and conceptual images.*
  9. Utilize ANSYS to perform Finite Element Analysis.*
  10. Utilize Mathcad to perform calculations for company design files and for submittal to third parties for design review.*
  11. Understand the inherent design requirements of castings and forgings.*
  12. Create rapid prototypes (3D prints) with Ultimaker S5.*
  13. Participate in or facilitate Ideation sessions, which are structured group idea generation sessions utilizing Creative Problem Solving Techniques such as Brainstorming.*
  14. Create and deliver presentations to management, product development or other internal group, or customer representatives.*
  15. Utilize physical measurement devices such as scales, calipers, micrometers, radius gages, etc.*
  16. Qualitatively evaluate competitor products.*
  17. Accomplish work within scheduled timeframes, and be able to clearly report progress and estimate completion times.*
  18. The Engineer is expected to execute their duties in an ethical and thorough manner, exercising all required due diligence to ensure designed products meet the required performance characteristics.*

Special Location/Position Requirements:

This position will be located in Tulsa, OK USA.

Job Specifications (Work Experience, Skills, Abilities, etc.)

  • Two to Five years experience in Engineering Design and strong mechanical and structural background.
  • Proven proficiency in 3D CAD (preference given to PTC Creo) and Product Lifecycle Management system (preference given to PTC Windchill)
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis software (preference given to ANSYS).
  • Working knowledge of drafting (ASME Y14.5) techniques.
  • Experience in the use of precision measuring instruments, i.e., micrometers, dial calipers, thread micrometers, etc.
  • Experience in ERP business software (preference given to SAP) in a manufacturing environment desired.
  • Knowledge in the use of available industrial reference books.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment utilized in the making and processing of steel products.
  • Experience in Rigging, Lifting, or Material Handling Industry, preferred.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, required.

Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:

Normal office conditions. Office may be located in a multi-level office building. Job demands may require long periods of sitting, telephone work, and/or computer work, as well as interaction with other people. Normal office conditions include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting, driving, and/or traveling.

May occasionally visit shop to observe activities, post results, etc. Shop conditions are variable depending on task assignment. Is subject to shop noise, skin, and eye are subject to fumes, vapors, and solutions controlled to OSHA standards.
