Under general guidance and supervision, assists offset and digital press operators with operating and maintaining printing and binding machinery to produce high-quality printed materials, setting up, adjusting, and troubleshooting various printing and bindery equipment, ensuring that production runs smoothly and meets quality standards.Job Description
All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. Essential Job Functions
- Prepare and set up printing and bindery machines according to job specifications.
- Adjust settings such as ink flow, paper feed, and cutting dimensions to achieve desired results.
- Monitor machine operations during production to ensure proper functioning.
- Make adjustments as needed to maintain print quality and prevent errors.
- Operate various printing and bindery equipment, such as offset printers, digital presses, collators, and binding machines.
- Install and align printing plates, rollers, and cutting blades.
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure printed materials meet specified standards.
- Detect and resolve issues related to color, registration, and print alignment.
- Perform test runs and make necessary adjustments to achieve optimal print quality.
- Perform routine maintenance on printing and bindery equipment to prevent breakdowns.
- Troubleshoot and repair machinery malfunctions promptly.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff for more complex repairs.
- Load and unload paper, ink, and other materials onto printing and bindery machines.
- Manage inventory of printing supplies and order replenishments as needed.
- Maintain accurate production records, including job details, materials used, and machine settings.
- Document any issues or challenges encountered during the production process.
- Utilizing a computer to process jobs and download and manipulate customer files through a variety of computer applications including but limited to digital print drivers, work order management (Print Shop Pro), and shipping & receiving software (SqBx), and Internet, Word Processing and Spreadsheet applications.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of various printing and bindery equipment.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment; follow written and verbal instructions;
Skill in detail-oriented; strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have some knowledge of digital print drivers, Internet, Word Processing and Spreadsheet applications.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED Vocational training in printing technology preferred. Experience in print shop, Print and Bindery Operator, or similar role is preferred but not required.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
