Salary Grade: Hourly 11 | H-11

Position Summary: The Preventive Maintenance Apprentice is a position that is in part educational training to become a Mechanical Journeyperson. The Apprentice is responsible for learning all procedural matters pertaining to mechanical codes, complying with local and federal regulations, troubleshooting, new installations, pipe layouts, natural gas, sheet metal layouts, refrigeration distribution, and complying with safety requirements. The apprentice must show continued improvement in skill set and knowledge base in order to advance to a craftsperson position. All assigned work orders must be completed satisfactorily in a timely manner. Report labor, costs and any pertinent notes and information regarding all assigned work orders to your foreperson on a daily basis.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required

Experience:
• Previous experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.:
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's license
• Knowledge of current city codes and EPA regulations is a plus
• Must obtain and maintain a current and valid State Mechanical Apprentice card
• Must pass both written and practical application examinations within first three (3) years of employment
• Must take the state's Mechanical Journeyperson exam to become a state licensed Mechanical Journeyperson after completing (3) years as a Mechanical Apprentice
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to occasionally lift more than 50 lbs.
• Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolds
• Must be able to occasionally work on roofs and heights greater than 20 feet
Other:
• Able and willing to learn Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
• Proficient in Spanish is a plus
