Responsibilities
As Online Referral Specialist, you will be responsible for monitoring, reviewing, and responding to inquiries on Amedisys company website and for developing the referral relationships within the patient, family and care team in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Serves as the first line of customer service for external and internal customers (care center relationship).
- Professionally responds to website inquiries regarding company services within the specified time requirements.
- Evaluates incoming requests and determines whether requestor is homebound and in need of home health/hospice services based on information gathered from inquiry, and coordinates appropriately based on location and need.
- Performs reverse marketing in coordination with the local BD Leader to reinforce messaging, stay top of mind and present information where it may be of value to customers.
- Reviews trends on requests and needs of referral sources. Escalates opportunities and customer concerns to manager and BD leaders.
- Receives and documents patient referrals through website inquiries, ensuring compliance with applicable coverage criteria in accordance with company guidelines.
- Coordinates and communicates with home health Intake Coordinators or designee(s) to enter referrals into Homecare Homebase.
- Gathers and communicates pertinent information to the clinical team to assist in scheduling an evaluation visit.
- Provides the appropriate information from web referral and care transitions conversations to the home health Intake Coordinator to ensure complete referral information.
- Makes referrals to other community resources as directed by the Director of Operations/designee.
- Communicates and follows up with Business Development regarding pending admissions or as directed by Director of Operations.
- If a licensed clinician, may obtain verbal orders from patient's physician on patient's behalf and documents as applicable.
- Professionally communicates and follows up with referral sources regarding required documentation for a complete referral as appropriate.
- Complies with policies, procedures and regulatory mandates including but not limited to abiding to the terms of the Amedisys Compliance Program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate's degree or equivalent.
- Two (2+) years' administrative experience in a healthcare environment.
- Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse specific to the state(s) the employee is assigned to work by the company.
- Reliable internet service and ability to office from home with minimal disruption to the workday.
Preferred:
- Hospice or Home Health intake experience.
- Homecare Homebase application experience.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications for document creation, data entry and email communication. Ability to navigate dual monitors, use desktop shortcuts and participate in video conferencing.
