Description

Job Summary: Supports salespeople in various technical and analytical responsibilities related to sales operations, while providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. Collaborates closely with sales personnel to ensure efficient sales processes and maintain high standards of customer satisfaction. Involves using selection software to configure equipment to meet customer and project needs, including the selection, ratings, preparing submittal documents, and configuring special applications of AAON products. Interacts directly with customers on occasion as determined by the salespeople. Assists with hosting customer visits, leading tours and training customers.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews customers’ technical documents and requirements and makes appropriate equipment selections and recommendations to the salesperson for final review prior to being provided to the customer.
  • Analyzes data such as customer designs and specifications, or existing equipment and systems, to determine the unique HVAC equipment and systems to meet customer-specific requirements.
  • Recommends pricing of equipment options for special applications for industrial and commercial projects.
  • Develops applications related to obtaining SPAs, special drawings, special coil performance, as well as other functions.
  • Prepares equipment submittals to be provided to customers for formal approval prior to placing an order.
  • Manages all aspects of assigned National Account projects, including projects for one very large account, and may expand to other customers in the future.
  • Assists the sales team by performing steps related to Premium Ship Requests, such as: bill of material examination, long-lead part identification, etc.
  • Travels occasionally to support salesperson and customer needs at customer’s location such as design review meetings, job site walks, etc.
  • Drives completion of various internal sales administration activities related to order entry, credit, manufacturing, purchasing, shipping, warranty, etc.
  • Drives resolution of internally escalated issues that fall back on the Salesperson, such as complex warranty issues, missing requested ship dates, etc.
  • Collaborates with other departments such as Production Controls and Customer Service to organize data and prepare communications to Reps in the event of any special or urgent projects.
  • Covers responsibilities for Salesperson when they’re on vacation or unavailable.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering, or a similar degree in applied sciences; master’s degree would be preferred, and 5 years’ relevant engineering or related experience.
  • Requires completion of AAON’s Master’s of HVAC, or similar HVAC training program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates strong Engineering/technical, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make engineering decisions and recommendations based on HVAC system design requirements.
  • Demonstrates strong multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills.

Work Environment:

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office setting.
  • Frequent exposure to manufacturing facilities with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some exposure to chemicals/fumes.
  • Ability to work in conditions below 32 degrees or above 90 degrees on occasion.
  • Occasional travel as required.
