MECHANICAL/PROJECT ENGINEER
In this position, you will provide engineering consulting services and lead design team members for a variety of clients. Clients will include midstream/downstream oil and gas, industrial and commercial. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and construction personnel. Provide engineering services for the full life cycle of projects, from conceptual planning to completed construction.
In this role you will…
- Assist in the mechanical/process/project engineering for a variety of clients.
- Assist in the development of design and construction documents, including PFD's, P&ID's, plans and sections, piping drawings, details, specifications, isometrics, bill of materials, and calculations.
- Build and maintain project lists and folder structure for a variety of clients, including but not limited to equipment list, line list, instrument list, etc.
- Responsible for maintaining clean and organized folder structure within projects.
- Check BOM against project specifications and ISO’s
- Take detailed meeting minutes during project meetings to distribute internally for comment.
- Coordinate with other technical staff including site civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and architectural.
- Create equipment spec sheets and send Requests for Quote out to multiple vendors. Track each vendor along with due dates and follow up as required.
- Assemble bid tabulations and provide recommendations from vendor submittals.
- Coordinate with in-house construction personnel for EPC projects.
- Provide input regarding the execution plan for each project with the project manager.
- Ensure that cost, customer service, quality, schedule and safety is incorporated into the design from commencement through completion.
- Address questions and issues during construction.
- Provide start-up assistance as required.
- Proactively working on best practices, engineering guidelines and internal procedures, and maintaining internal and external networks to be informed of new developments in the field.
As the ideal candidate you have …
- 2 to 5 years of mechanical/process/project engineering experience preferred.
- Diverse experience and variety of past project types.
- Expertise with HVAC and central plants is a plus.
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in related field. (PE is a plus.)
- Mechanical Engineering or
- Chemical Engineering
- The ability to plan, lead, organize and communicate with team members and client representatives.
- Proven successful project history. (Cost, Customer Service, Quality, and Schedule)
- The ability to work extended hours as needed to meet critical deadlines.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D piping software. Proficiency in CadWorx a plus.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite.
- Engaging in multiple projects simultaneously.
- Participating in the analysis, deployment, implementation and maintenance of technical policies and procedures.
- Continuously increasing knowledge and exhibiting ability to learn and apply new skills.
- Making timely decisions using sound and accurate judgment while keeping appropriate people informed in the decision process.
- Identifying problems, gathering and analyzing information skillfully. Consulting with entities associated and affected by issue.
- Continually reviewing progress of designs to verify requirements are achieved and identifying issues for resolution early in project lifecycle.
- Organizing and prioritizing work activities while utilizing efficient time management skills in meeting deadlines or staying on schedule with projects.
- Communicating effectively and professionally both verbally and in written correspondence.
- Meeting established goals while demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness to ensure quality of work.
- Operate a computer, telephone and other commonly used business-related items.
- Put in extended hours to meet critical deadlines and handle rapidly changing priorities to accomplish project goals.
- Attend and participate in meetings.
- Travel (approximately 10%) as need to support projects.
