Manager Finance

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To act as generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) technical advisor to management; to ensure assigned financial duties are recorded and presented according to GAAP; to assist in the budget/forecast process; to conduct financial analysis projects; and to provide support to upper management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in review and ensures completion of monthly, quarterly, annual, and other financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Assists in establishment and maintenance of appropriate accounting documentation, systems, and internal controls, processes, and data.
  • Provides research on new and existing accounting and financial reporting issues.
  • Manages accounting staff and directs their work to accomplish assigned Finance department responsibilities.
  • Reviews finance system entries from accounting staff to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Interacts with senior management in the development and understanding of strategies.
  • Communicates issues, project status, and other applicable information to Finance upper management,
  • Acts as GAAP technical advisor to management,
  • Ensures all deadlines related to assigned areas of responsibility are met.
  • Works closely with other departments as needed to complete projects.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

· Performs other duties as assigned.

· Supports the organization's quality program(s).

· Travels as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations.
  • Interviews, hires and establishes colleague performance development plans; conducts colleague performance discussions.
  • Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Major in accounting field strongly preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent designation preferred.

Experience

Eight (8) years of accounting, auditing and/or financial analysis experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required; supervisory experience preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of project management, finance, financial processes and systems
  • Good oral and written communication, including presentation skills
  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills
  • Strong detail orientation with ability to multi-task
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize
  • Good leadership, motivational and interpersonal skills
  • Unquestionable ethics and integrity
  • Ability to work in team environment; ability to work with team members in a hands-on management capacity
  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
