Overview
This position will work cross-functionally to lead ETO Engineering, Sustaining and Value Engineering (SAVE) teams ensuring capable and stable engineering processes, reliable performance, and managing post-release product changes. This role requires a deep understanding of pipeline technology in design and manufacturing, as well as regulatory code requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Lead teams for Engineer to Order (ETO), Sustaining and Value Engineering (SAVE) with 6-10 direct engineering reports.
Responsible for developing ETO products to meet technical customer requirements by the creation of models, drawings, testing requirements, and inspection requirements within an aggressive schedule.
Responsible for day-to-day management of sustaining activities including supporting Product Management, Operations, Service, and Manufacturing engineering teams, and maintaining the overall quality and performance of the product line.
Ensures that the design of all engineered products adheres to the highest standards of quality and reliability within industry, company and customer specifications and requirements, and industry codes.
Ensures the Manufacturing department / suppliers are provided with engineering drawings sufficient in detail and clarity to allow product to be manufactured according to specifications.
Lead the development and execution of the Engineering process automation and identify opportunities for process automation and technology augmentation by analyzing existing processes, workflows, systems, and data.
Evaluates and recommends engineering practices and standards, including code requirements, value analysis, and development of appropriate analysis and test protocols, in the design and development of new and existing products and services.
Participates in the preparation of the annual operating budget and operates within approved guidelines to meet budget objectives.
Provides technical support to Sales, CommOps, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing and Customer Service about product and service applications and complaints handling.
Provides engineering and technical expertise to TDW Services about product and field service applications ensuring maximum product performance and reliability for the customer’s piping performance.
Provides internal trainings to the Master Technicians on the New Products as applicable.
Establish strong relationship with customers through business and technical support, New Products presentations and demonstrations, Beta jobs.
Provides engineering leadership expertise to other groups and regions and participates in periodic corporate-wide technical conference to facilitate consistency of engineering practices and coordination.
Takes part in customer and sales events through New Products presentations and demonstrations.
Maintains professional/ academic/ industry contacts and improves technical knowledge by participating in professional organizations, reviewing technical papers/ literature and attending appropriate meetings and seminars and workshops with the intent of applying the latest technology to both existing and new products.
Selects, evaluates, motivates and develops employees to ensure a qualified workforce necessary to meet company objectives, while complying with local employment guidelines.
Sets personal objectives, provides fair and constructive feedback, assesses accurately employee performance, training needs, areas for improvement and possibility of future growth within the organization, and ensures training & development needs are addressed.
Develops a positive team dynamic to ensure high performance and leads the continuous improvement process in their team.
Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required, Masters in Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
10-15 years' experience working in Engineering, Design or Manufacturing Engineering.
Proven experience in mechanical design and engineering, with a focus in Oil & Gas, pipeline industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and engineering PDM /PLM tools like Team Center, SolidWorks PDM.
Strong presentation skills for communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including presentations to customers and company executives.
Strong problem-solving and creative innovation leadership skills with experience questioning status quo and proven experience improving work strategies.
Strong ability to coordinate with different departments within the organization.
Possess strong ability to exercise sound judgment in making technical decisions.
Previously demonstrated ability to organize, lead, challenge, inspire, and develop people.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Travel may include global trips, up to 25%.
