Job Description
The Loan Review Officer IV performs loan reviews of the most complex loan types, leads reviews of the largest or riskiest lending areas, and may lead in special projects, including due diligence of an acquisition; responsible for the ongoing evaluation of the bank’s commercial loan portfolio quality and for measuring compliance with established policies, regulatory guidelines and sound lending practices; provides bank management and the Board of Directors with an evaluation of the risk and collectability associated with the commercial loan portfolio, as well as the stability of lending practices and activities; works under limited supervision and provides subordinates officers with functional guidance.

How You'll Spend Your Time
- You’ll evaluate credit risk of the commercial loan portfolio via annual reviews of all commercial lending departments, community banks, and affiliate banks and through quarterly reviews of marginal and criticized loans within the portfolios.
- You’ll prepare written reports directed to lending department management, senior Credit Administration personnel, the Chief Credit Officer, and executive management.
- You’ll assist in or lead the continuous review of credit risk, special projects, and due diligence of potential bank acquisitions, as necessary.
- You’ll verify risk grades to individual loan relationships after analyzing the borrower’s capacity to repay debt and after discussions with Account Managers and senior leaders regarding this analysis.
- You’ll review criticized loans which includes assessing collateral adequacy and making recommendations based on potential shortfalls and losses. Loan Review leadership will judge the accuracy of the recommendation.
- You’ll review criticized loans which includes assessing collateral adequacy and making impairment recommendations based on the presence of collateral shortfalls.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of accounting, credit analysis, financial analyses, lending practices, banking regulations, and Uniform Commercial Code.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of financial analysis including ratio, trend and cash flow analysis
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of commercial lending policy, procedures and loan documentation requirements.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills to prepare and present persuasive oral and written reports.
- Excellent PC and spreadsheet software skills
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting and 10+s years experience in loan review and analysis, or 12+ years of equivalent work experience.
