Position Information Position Title IT Project Manager Job Description Job Summary:The Information Technology Project Manager is responsible for all phases of project management in the planning and tactical execution of technology initiatives that support the mission of The University of Tulsa. The Project Manager assists business units in improving the way they deliver services by understanding their needs, analyzing existing business processes, translating change and implementation requests into IT project requirements, and overseeing and managing those projects and implementations to successful completion. The position is responsible for managing project expectations, defining project scope and deliverables, communicating the functional requirements and dependencies to the relevant IT team members, developing project plans, and creating relevant documentation to track progress. In addition, this role may also provide technical administration support for a portfolio of applications currently in production for the university. The university is a highly collaborative environment, communication across organizational units within IT, faculty, staff, and administration is essential in support of project management. This role works closely with all levels of IT and the university to provide technology leadership and strategic planning for the university.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management (60%): The IT Project Manager will be responsible for managing projects related to the development and implementation of new systems and applications. This includes developing project plans, managing project timelines, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
o Lead internal project planning and development of solutions for client needs.
o Identify and oversee business process-driven technology improvements.
o Work with third-party partners or solutions in developing or implementing solutions.
o Provide pre-sales technical consulting by participating in online demonstrations, and conference calls for enterprise-level SaaS solutions.
o Define technical requirements, outline use-case(s), resources, and cost to implement solutions, and contribute to defining the project charter for opportunities to support our mission, automation, efficiency, and simplification.
o Understand, document, and monitor application layering dependencies (User-Interface, Deployment, Public Interface, Application Domain, Application Infrastructure, Technical Frameworks, and Platforms) and application component dependencies.
o Understand and monitor impacts to and dependencies between existing applications and environments.
o Define and direct proof-of-concept tasks for proposed architectural interactions.
o Work closely with departments to respond to proposals and RFP’s to ensure that all technical information and recommendations address the requirements. - Consulting and Designing Solutions (20%): The IT Project Manager will work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and design solutions. This includes identifying gaps in existing systems and processes
and recommending solutions to address those gaps.
o Cloud-Based Systems may include Microsoft 365 Power Platform, enterprise ticketing systems, document management systems, and other cloud-based low-code workflow automation platforms.
o Analyze customer requirements and business demands to assess design/technology alternatives and propose solutions.
o Collaborate with other teams and vendors to develop and implement new solutions to meet business requirements. - Applications Portfolio Management (20%): The IT Project Manager will be responsible for managing the organization’s applications portfolio. This includes identifying opportunities to improve existing applications and recommending new applications to meet business needs. This department serves as administrators for various systems including SharePoint Online, TeamDynamix or the Enterprise Service Catalog and ticketing system, Document Management System, and other enterprise systems/tools.
o Keep up to date with the latest features, capabilities, and applications released by different platforms/systems to ensure we can provide the best guidance to our clients.
o Provide technical support by participating in vendor support calls for enterprise-level technical issues or upgrades.
o Assist with gathering requirements for SFTP file uploads, SSO, or file integration implementation or changes as requested.
o Facilitate, present, and lead technical discussions with technical SMEs as well as customers and other stakeholders.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Management Information Systems, Business Administration or related field, or 2+ years of project and application management experience.
- Experience in IT Project Management.
- Experience in project scoping, analytical assessment and product demonstration skills.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 – Azure, SharePoint, Teams, Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and other Office Applications.
- Ability to collaborate with and motivate multiple groups toward accomplishing a task.
- Strong verbal, presentation, written, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable with a consultative presentation to C-level business executives as well as detailed, in-depth discussions and trainings with a more technical audience.
- PMP Certification
- Expertise with the Microsoft Environment
- Expertise with information technology applications, processes, software and equipment
- Knowledge of advanced it project management strategies and software
- Demonstrated cross-functional project management experience
- Demonstrated team performance skills and service mindset approach
- Attitude that supports an agile working environment
