Position Information Position Title Instructional Design and eLearning Specialist Job Description The Instructional Design and eLearning Specialist will work as a part of a team to develop, deliver and support online programs at the University of Tulsa. This position is specific to the successful design and support of courses which make up the online programs at the University. The person in this position will be the direct conduit between faculty who are the subject matter experts and the development of courses within the LMS.Online Course Design Expertise
- Collaborates with faculty on the design, development, and launch of online courses
- Recommend effective and creative use of technologies to enhance instruction and create new learning environments
- Partners with faculty in the development and production of multimedia (including audio, video, and graphic production) for online delivery
- Conducts Course quality reviews, providing recommendations for Course improvement, and promoting best practices of teaching and learning in online modalities.
- Stays abreast of emerging technologies and their application to online instruction, and makes recommendations to adopt and implement solutions as appropriate
Collaboration and Teamwork
- Works with the instructional design team to follow the online course development process, including tracking progress and timelines, and ensuring that new courses meet internal standards related to design, interaction, accessibility, and faculty-student engagement.
- Serves and collaborates as part of a team that ensures faculty are prepared with the knowledge and skills needed to teach in online and blended modalities (both asynchronous and synchronous) through consultations, training, documentation, and coaching.
- Advanced degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or equivalent
- Multimedia production skills, such as video production and editing, or equivalent
- Experience in project management (managing time, establishing priorities, distributing responsibilities, meeting milestones and deliverables)
- Previous teaching experience
- Knowledge and experience with multiple LMS systems and the numerous tools associated with online learning.
