Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive research on industries in which CNB currently operates and new potential industries, including market sizing, competitive landscape, growth trends, and regulatory factors which may influence business strategy.
  • Analyzes financial statements and key performance metrics for competitors to assess operational efficiency, profitability, and growth potential.
  • Develops actionable insights and recommendations based on research and analysis to support business and investment decisions related to industry-specific growth opportunities, acquisitions, and partnerships as well as internal investments within a business unit.
  • Builds and maintains financial models tailored to specific needs of different competitor industries, including forecasting, scenario analysis, and valuation.
  • Prepares regular performance reports on industry sectors and CNB business units, including detailed financial analysis, risk assessments, and growth potential evaluations.
  • Works closely with senior leadership and business unit leadership to align on strategic objectives and investment goals.
  • Keeps track of macroeconomic, political, and regulatory changes which may impact industries relevant to CNB operations, offering foresight into potential risks and opportunities.
  • Supports due diligence process for potential acquisitions, investments, or strategic partnerships by evaluating market trends, financial performance, and long-term viability within the industry.
  • Manages multiple projects without having direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • Work is primary performed in a climate-controlled office setting.
  • Work requires travel, including overnight stays.
  • Work requires travel to industry events.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or other related field and two (2) to five (5) years of experience in an equity research associate or financial analysis related role, ideally with exposure to multiple industries, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) with focus on finance or economics preferred.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification or progress toward certification preferred.
  • Experience conducting in-depth financial analysis, including financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence.
  • Exposure to specific industries in which CNB operates (government contracting, gaming, healthcare, and/or utility services), including an ability to rapidly learn new sectors.
  • Experience with private companies, including an understanding of unique financial structures, operating models, and investment strategies.
  • Knowledge of specific industries central to CNB portfolio, including the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of new industries as the company expands and/or shifts focus.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products for financial modeling, including experience in financial data tools like Bloomberg, FactSet, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present findings and insights in clear, actionable reports and presentations for senior management and other stakeholders.
  • High degree of precision and focus on details when analyzing complex data sets, financial models, and industry research.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements, build financial models, and perform valuation techniques, such as DCF (Discounted Cash Flow), comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions.
  • Ability to contribute to long-term business and investment strategy by identifying emerging trends, growth opportunities, and potential risks.
  • Ability to identify issues, create solutions, and think critically about implications of market and business trends.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changes in the industry landscape and acquire expertise in emerging sectors.
  • Ability to work closely with internal teams, including senior executives and operational leadership, to align on business objectives and industry analysis.
