Position Information Position Title Honors Program Officer Job Description The person in this position plays a vital role in the Honors College, as they work closely with the dean, faculty, and key staff in Hardesty Hall to develop programming for the Honors College that integrates the honors residential experience and the honors curriculum. This person will work closely with the Honors Student Association, the Housing coordinator and RA’s in Hardesty Hall, and the students in Hardesty Hall government to execute our co-curricular programming, both in the dorm and on campus. This person will also work effectively and cooperatively with honors faculty and the dean to ensure that our co-curricular programming is aligned with the unique pedagogical mission and vision of the Honors College. Finally, this person will take on advising and mentoring responsibilities within the Honors College. The person in this role will need to work very well with students, be able to build community and comradery among them, and be able to help them grow in character and leadership skills.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
  • Help to plan and execute co-curricular events for honors college students

  • Assist in programming throughout the year, including summer programs for high school students.

  • Advise and mentor students in the honors college

  • Oversee and maintain a programming budget

  • Work collaboratively with faculty, residential life staff, and students on programming

  • Organize and lead students to help build community within the honors college

  • Attend and oversee honors college events

  • Delegate tasks to student workers as needed
Required Qualifications Equivalent Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 1 year of administrative experience

Knowledge/Skill/Ability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organized and interpersonal
  • Experience with successful event planning.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment, drive projects to completion, and act with a sense of urgency.
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Excel and familiar with Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively.
  • A collaborative team player, who can coordinate work effectively with employees, team members, and students.
  • Experience advising students
  • High attention to detail, demonstrated practice of establishing effective priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree
