Hardware Engineer III - Cloud Infrastructure Operations
This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following location(s): AZ, GA, NC, NJ, TX
This position is a highly skilled and experienced senior level Hardware engineer to join the cloud infrastructure operations team and support our critical infrastructure composed of Cisco UCS, HPE ProLiant, and HPE Synergy hardware. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for monitoring, handling incidents, upgrading, and building new platforms to ensure the reliability and performance of our datacenter compute infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Consultation - Provides consultative direction and technical advice relating to the Bank's operating systems, software, and hardware infrastructure. Supports all areas of Technology and Operations. Leads strategic designs, initiatives, and contributes to the analysis of new and existing Bank technologies.
- Project Management - Leads assigned technical projects ensuring accurate, timely, and quality delivery of project objectives. Guides the development and execution of project tasks.
- Technical Expertise - Maintains a strong knowledge base to effectively manage and maintain operations efficiency and guide others. Communicates effective and clear technical information across platforms.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members.
- Provide senior level troubleshooting relate to hardware based solutions, including performance optimization and system tuning.
- Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline deployment, configuration, and management tasks.
- Continued education in the latest HPE and Cisco UCS technologies and best practices.
- Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Document deployment procedures, upgrade procedures, Standard Operating Practices and operationalize processes to facilitate knowledge transfer to other operational team members and Tier 2.
- Hardware Monitoring: Monitor the health and performance of Cisco UCS, HPE ProLiant, and HPE Synergy hardware to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
- Respond to hardware incidents and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and maintain service availability.
- Hardware Upgrades: Plan and execute hardware upgrades, including firmware updates, hardware replacements, and capacity expansions, to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
- Platform Building: Collaborate with engineering teams to design, build, and deploy new compute platforms based on business requirements and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with hardware vendors to obtain technical support, RMA services, and product lifecycle information to support hardware maintenance and procurement activities.
- Assist in capacity planning efforts by analyzing usage trends, forecasting future demand, and recommending hardware upgrades or expansions as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Systems engineer and systems programmer OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Systems engineer and systems programmer
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience designing, implementing and managing Cisco UCS, HPE ProLiant, and HPE Synergy hardware and tools
- Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco UCS, HPE ProLiant, and HPE Synergy hardware and tools
- Strong understanding of networking, storage and virtualization concepts
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools such as PowerShell, Python and/or Ansible
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) frameworks like Terraform is a plus
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues
- Strong verbal communication across audiences (such as technical coworkers, end users, and management)
- Ability to work a on call rotation
- Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift frequently
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to attain new technical skills and share knowledge with teammates
- Ability to maintain calm and patient attitude under pressure
