Job Summary:
The Government Relations Manager serves as the liaison between the company and government entities and policymakers. Their primary role is to ensure the company’s interests are represented and aligned with public policy and regulations while maintaining compliance with applicable laws
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Policy Monitoring and Analysis: Track and analyze legislation, regulations, and public policies that could impact the company’s operations, industry, or market. Assess risks and opportunities stemming from government actions and provide information and recommendations internally.
- Advocacy and Lobbying: Advocate for the company’s positions on specific issues to legislators, regulators, and other government officials. Collaborate with trade associations, coalitions, and lobbying firms to advance the company’s objectives.
- Compliance Support: Work with internal teams to ensure the company adheres to requirements. Assist in interpreting new laws and regulations and implementing necessary changes within the company.
- Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including internal leadership, peers, government officials, policymakers, industry groups, and community leaders. Represent the company at events and political engagements to represent the company.
- Internal Communication: Provide strategic advice to executives and senior leadership on government-related issues. Educate internal teams about government and legislative changes that could impact the company.
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Public Engagement: Collaborate on initiatives that demonstrate the company’s commitment to the community and align with government priorities (e.g., sustainability, economic development). Manage relationships with local, state, and federal government leaders.
- Crisis Management: Address government-related challenges or crises, such as investigations, audits, or disputes. Work with Communications team to shape messaging for government interactions.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8-10 years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of government processes, public policy, and regulatory environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships and representing the company.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to analyze complex legal and policy issues.
- Experience in government, law, public relations, or a related field
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
- Travel may be required up to 30% of the time.
