WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Analyst to support our IT department’s finance and procurement operations. This role will be instrumental in managing IT budgets, optimizing cloud costs, overseeing software procurement, and ensuring effective resource allocation to support strategic business goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in financial analysis, with a focus on IT budgeting, forecasting, and procurement, and a keen eye for cost-saving opportunities, particularly through efficient license management and identifying duplicate software.
Major duties and responsibilities:
- IT Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the development and management of the annual IT budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Analyze historical spending patterns and forecast future IT expenditures, considering ongoing projects, technology advancements, and business growth.
- Provide financial insights to IT leadership and collaborate on identifying cost-saving opportunities and optimal resource allocation.
- Prepare detailed budget reports and communicate financial analysis to senior management to support decision-making.
- Track and report on budget variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Cloud Cost Management:
- Monitor and analyze cloud expenses across various providers, ensuring cost-efficiency and adherence to budgetary goals.
- Implement strategies to optimize cloud costs, including resizing, leveraging reserved instances, and identifying underutilized resources.
- Develop and maintain a cloud cost forecasting model to anticipate future expenditures and collaborate with IT teams for efficient utilization of cloud resources.
- Track and report on budget variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Strategic Software Procurement and Evaluation:
- Support the software procurement process, including researching and evaluating new software solutions to meet organizational needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, assess software compatibility, and ensure alignment with IT standards and policies.
- Assist in negotiations with software vendors to secure favorable terms, leveraging volume discounts and strategic partnerships.
- Ensure comprehensive evaluation and vetting of software before making purchasing recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with organizational procurement policies and procedures.
- Software License Management and Cost-Savings Identification:
- Maintain a comprehensive inventory of software licenses, tracking usage, expirations, and compliance across the organization.
- Implement tools and processes to optimize software license utilization, identifying opportunities for savings by reducing redundancies and eliminating underutilized or duplicate software.
- Proactively review and analyze software usage patterns to detect overlapping or duplicate solutions, recommending consolidation options where feasible to achieve cost savings.
- Work closely with legal and procurement teams to review and negotiate software license agreements, ensuring the organization’s cost efficiency and legal compliance.
WHO YOU ARE
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or IT procurement roles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud), software licensing models, and industry’s best practices is a plus.
- Proficiency in financial analysis tools and software, such as Microsoft Excel, and familiarity with financial management platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or cloud-specific cost management tools.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in IT Financial Management, Cloud Cost Management, or related areas.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
- Strong understanding of data security and regulatory compliance in IT procurement and financial operations.
- Experience with financial modeling and scenario analysis.
- Experience with IT financial management software.
