Role Overview
Tulsa Immigrant CDC is seeking an Executive Director to lead a new and exciting community development corporation community hub and small business incubator in East Tulsa. The organization will support East Tulsa’s immigrant community by strategically coordinating the holistic economic development of the area by providing resources, tools, and services to build community assets, foster entrepreneurship and preserve the authenticity of East Tulsa neighborhoods.
Initially, the Executive Director will ensure that the organization serves small business owners and entrepreneurs by providing training, space, and other support to grow their businesses. This will include managing the Tulsa Immigrant CDC, including a business center and tenant space. The ideal candidate will have a long-term vision for what this organization can become and will be skilled at taking projects from concept to implementation. This position is ideal for someone who is creative, self-motivated, a go-getter, and enjoys the challenge of building from scratch.

Job Responsibilities
Vision and Strategy
- Lead the development of an organizational strategic plan and implement transformative strategies positioning the organization as an innovative and responsive organization providing community-centered economic development and support services to East Tulsa families.
- Shape the organization’s strategic direction based on its mission, vision, values, and business opportunities in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Recruit and build a team that can grow the organization as prescribed by the mission, vision, and values.
- Assist and support board members’ ability to make informed decisions that serve the best interests of Tulsa Immigrant CDC and its stakeholders.
- Facilitate the orientation of new board and committee members.
- In partnership with the Board and staff, plan for resource development to build on the organization’s strengths and continue to diversify revenue sources.
- Actively identify and pursue resources and partners to advance the organization's mission and services.
- Develop an annual budget for Board approval; monitor and prudently manage resources within the approved budget.
- Manage all administrative aspects of the organization’s operations, including purchasing, record keeping, budget development, and accounting. Prepare and submit reports as required by funders.
- Maintain appropriate financial, personnel, and other management systems and procedures to minimize the possibility of legal or financial issues.
- Handle building management and assets of the real estate portfolio.
- Represent the organization in external meetings, professional groups, conferences, and other relevant settings, and serve as the voice and thought leader in the community on issues related to the organization.
- Work directly with community stakeholders to foster a diverse, collaborative, supportive ecosystem of entrepreneurs that advance the organization’s mission.
- Develop strategies to engage key stakeholders in work planning and program delivery to ensure programming is responsive to business and community needs.
- Serve as a champion for diversity, equity, and empowerment—internally and within all program areas.
- Work with the Board and staff to attract, hire, retain, and develop the organization’s staff to achieve their highest potential.
- Identify staff needs to continuously grow the organization as needed to fulfill the vision and mission.
- Ensure regular performance reviews and professional development opportunities for staff rooted in the organization’s vision, strategic goals, and day-to-day work.
- Identify and supervise professional consultants as needed.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required and/or commensurate experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- At least 5+ years of professional experience in entrepreneurial, economic development, and/or relevant work experience.
- Financial and strategic planning acumen.
- Proven success in fundraising and donor stewardship.
- Strong track record in building and managing teams required.
- Proven success in managing a sizable budget is required.
- Lead with humility and curiosity.
- Work well under pressure and possess the ability to adapt to changing culture and work demands.
- Ability to build trust and rapport among diverse audiences.
- Ability to balance operational and programmatic responsibilities, remaining flexible.
- Familiarity with issues facing immigrant communities and neighborhoods, the food system, and diverse start-up businesses.
- Outstanding cross-cultural communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for uncertainty and the creativity that unlocks.
- An unwavering personal and professional commitment to social, racial, and economic justice.
- Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Strong people skills and an enthusiasm for working with diverse populations.
- A keen understanding of adult learning and the ability to exercise good decision-making in real-time.
- Public speaking skills and comfort in front of all types of audiences.
- Work is performed primarily in an office setting in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with the ability to work remotely sometimes. Some evenings, weekends, and outdoor work are required.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
