Job Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for developing and overseeing an enterprise security data program. The enterprise data security program will be built on the implementation of best practices and an enterprise Data Loss Prevention (DLP) include discovering, cataloging, and protecting sensitive information including monitoring to prevent data exfiltration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

  • Designs, implements, documents, and maintains an enterprise security data program.
  • Develops and implements automated processes to align data security policies, procedures, and controls to protect our data infrastructure from threats, inadvertent disclosures, exfiltration, and vulnerabilities.
  • Designs and manages data encryption strategies and access control technologies to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Participates in incident response to provide expertise in data security investigation, mitigation, and reporting.
  • Conducts regular risk assessments and security audits to identify and address potential data security issues.
  • Collaborates across business units to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standard related to data security and privacy.
  • Provides regular reports on data security status and incidents.
  • Researches, analyzes, and recommends new data security technologies, tools, practices, and policies.
  • Continuously improves security processes and practices.
  • Participates in the security awareness programming to increase data security awareness.
  • Serves as an expert resource on data security matters such as retention, classification, and best practice.
  • Provides leadership on data security related projects and initiatives.
  • Performs other job related as assigned.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

No supervisory/management authority.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in data security engineering, with a focus on securing data platforms and infrastructure or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience in data and database security roles, including database administration. Deep understanding of backend data engineering, data encryption, access controls and security protocols. Experience with data governance or data compliance standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Advanced knowledge of cloud security and associate tools.
  • Proven experience in data and database security roles, including database administration.
  • Strong knowledge of data and database security principles, encryption techniques, access controls, auditing, and DLP solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge in database security and management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server).
  • Advanced knowledge of computer security including knowledge of vulnerability and penetration testing, compliance testing, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Advanced knowledge and implementation of data forensics.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to author SQL queries.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office setting. Work may require lifting and carrying objects up to 10lbs. Will require to be on call 24x7.
