Position Summary:

The Engineering Technician holds responsibilities for utilizing a 3D CAD system to create draft and fully approved drawings for both internal and customer-facing purposes. This role is also responsible for developing associated models of OsecoElfab Products and Tooling, based on design input from Engineers of varying levels. The Engineering Technician is also involved in creating new part setup data in ERP system according to established procedures and data specifications, as well as updating existing product data in ERP system to adhere to the same specifications. The Engineering Technician would also be involved in supporting with project work, including testing parts for product development or corrective actions.

Job Requirements:

  • Produce final sketches of proposed drawings, meticulously verifying dimensions of parts, material specifications, interrelationships of components, and the connections of various parts within the entire structure or project.
  • Apply knowledge of machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and physical sciences to complete drawings effectively.
  • Implement adjustments or modifications as required to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Translate preliminary sketches into polished designs.
  • Utilize computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software to enhance drafting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Create and maintain 3D models of OsecoElfab Products and Tooling, in line with design inputs from various engineering roles.
  • Establish new part setup data in Epicor using established procedures and data specifications.
  • Update and maintain existing product data in Epicor, ensuring consistency with established specifications.
  • Support Design and Product Engineers with product manufacture and testing for both product development, product audits and corrective actions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting customer or in-house drawings, sketches, data sheets, and markup drawings, as well as technical documents and regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, correspondence, and effectively conveying information to different teams within the company.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with manufacturing, sales, and other company personnel.
  • Sound mathematical aptitude encompassing plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and practical application of mathematical concepts in creating and maintaining drawings and 3D models.
  • Problem-solving skills and adaptability in dealing with varying variables, especially in non-standardized situations.
  • Ability to interpret a wide range of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficiency in the use of 3D CAD modeling software such as SolidWorks or equivalent, as well as Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Experience working within an ERP system, with preference for familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, operating equipment according to standard working instructions or engineering guidelines.

Education and Certification Qualifications:

  • Associates degree (A.A.) from a two year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education of experience.
