Overview: The Controls Engineer will be responsible for providing electrical and power expertise for a variety of product related inquiries. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of electrical and mechanical components.
  • Design Industrial Control Panels (ICP) utilizing UL508a as the bases of design.
  • Specify & document the installation of electrical conductors, equipment, and raceways for Industrial Prefabricated Buildings (IPB) and Structures.
  • Equipment includes panel boards, switch boards, switch gear, motor control centers, UPS, and Drives.
  • Execute all calculations found in UL508a or NEC
  • Measuring and designing up to 1000 V
  • Review project engineering and sales packages to determine the scope of equipment to supply to the customer
  • Develop one-line drawings in coordination with the project, sales, and process engineers to meet the company and customer's specification requirements
  • Perform inspection and test of equipment prior to shipment; customer may be present


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • Understanding of the application of the National Electrical Code to designs and deliverables.
  • A minimum of 3 years of Electrical Engineering experience, time as a journeyman, or instrument tech could be substituted for experience in Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience must be in design.
  • Pursuing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam (seeking PE licensure) a plus
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Mechanical & Software Engineers, Technicians, Trades people, and Project Managers to ensure seamless integration of electrical system with other components.
  • Experience with hazardous atmospheres, international electrical standards and configuring drives & programmable controllers
  • CSA and NFPA application experience a plus
  • Must be proficient in standard personal computer skills and professional correspondence.
  • Ability to travel 25% to 30%
  • Familiarity with - Programmable Logic Controllers, Power Distribution, Relay Logic, Variable Frequency Drives, Voltages: 12VDC up to 480VAC, Local and federal codes, regulations and specifications, NRTL application such as UL/cUL, Standard wiring practices and installation methods in both unclassified and classified areas.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to quickly traverse manufacturing areas.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, crawl, stretch, lay, and squat.
