It has a statewide ripple effect in limiting our communities’ potential, widening racial and economic disparities, and perpetuating intergenerational cycles of poverty. Building a more equitable and prosperous Oklahoma requires transformative changes in the way we collectively design and implement policies and practices, make decisions, and think and speak about crime and safety.
In 2021, The Justice and Mobility Fund partnered with the George Kaiser Family Foundation (GKFF®) to launch ProsperOK Initiative, LLC (“ProsperOK”). ProsperOK accelerates economic mobility, reduces incarceration, and bolsters community safety by uplifting people and removing barriers in the criminal legal system. ProsperOK envisions an Oklahoma that cares more than it confines; prevents and rehabilitates more than it punishes; and empowers communities to pursue solutions that increase economic opportunity and transform power systems.
Position Summary
The Director leads ProsperOK’s strategy and facilitates highly inter-related programs, grantees, and stakeholders in transforming the systemic barriers in Oklahoma’s criminal legal system and ensuring accessible resources for individuals and families to successfully exit the system. The Director develops will work closely with partners and consolidates data and outcomes to better inform ProsperOK strategies, funder investments, and ultimately outcomes in the State of Oklahoma. To be successful in this role, a depth of knowledge regarding Oklahoma’s criminal legal system is required, in addition to expertise in convening stakeholder groups and planning and executing large change management initiatives/programs, combined with the financial and fundraising acumen to deliver results.

- Strategic Leadership: Build strong collaboration and engagement with the POK coalition, funders, and key partners by fostering meaningful relationships and shared purpose. Clearly communicate a compelling vision for POK, driving alignment around strategic priorities and annual goals that align with established milestones. Inspire and influence action across stakeholders to ensure progress toward collective outcomes. Plan, coordinate, and facilitate meetings with the POK Steering Committee, coalition and Advisory Committee to ensure alignment and accountability. Collaborate with related organizations and entities involved in ProsperOK’s strategy.
- Fund Advisor Engagement: Facilitate biannual meetings with the Fund Advisors. Ensure proactive communication with the Fund Advisors regarding strategies, initiatives, key developments. Meet all necessary reporting requirements to Fund Advisors, including coordinating with grantees milestone tracking and program-level outcomes.
- Operational Leadership:
- Operationalize strategic priorities and goals into project execution/implementation plans to achieve ProsperOK goals.
- Ensure clear plans, performance outcomes, and reporting process is established with all stakeholders and programs engaged in achieving collective ProsperOK outcomes.
- Refine and manage processes for collecting, analyzing, and socializing data, research, and lived perspectives across the criminal legal continuum to raise awareness and advance outcomes.
- Ensure processes for ongoing and timely dissemination of ProsperOK communications and information through the website.
- Financial leadership: Track ProsperOK budget (including budgets for operational partners), manage and report on financial performance, ensuring effective systems to track and evaluate progress.
- Public leadership: Serve as the public face of the initiative and be the role model for the ProsperOK mission, values, and brand reputation in all interactions. Cultivate productive partnerships. Host and attend key events. Speak with media and other partners to advance communications that further ProsperOK’s mission.
- Revenue leadership: Develop fundraising goals and budgets, cultivate public sector and private funder relationships, and raise funds from national, state, and local sources.
- Relationship management: Seek out and develop/maintain relationships at the local, state, and national levels that bring innovation, engagement (including volunteers), and quality into ProsperOK’s work. Serve as a liaison between stakeholders to create productive working connections. Also required to develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across ProsperOK grantees, program leaders, and partners, empowering and aligning programs to achieve outcomes.
- Thought leadership: Keep current with local, state, and national criminal legal system trends. Utilize the collective impact data to bring new ideas, and technical assistance or other partners, to Tulsa and Oklahoma. Be trusted as a go-to expert.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 8 years of complex program or business management experience, with a track record of effectively leading a performance and outcomes-based organization and staff, demonstrated through specific examples of developing and operationalizing strategies that have effectively achieved defined outcomes and organizational growth.
- Previous experience and depth of understanding in criminal legal system initiatives or programs from vantage points of philanthropy, research, direct service, and/or regional intermediation.
- Past success working with a Board of Directors and Advisory Councils, cultivating relationships, and maximizing engagement and collaborative outcomes.
- Trusted, existing relationships/network with a wide range of Tulsa and Oklahoma criminal legal stakeholders spanning the grassroots, nonprofit, philanthropy, and public sectors strongly preferred.
- Experience with Google Suite and Salesforce is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success as a trusted leader and thought partner with a keen ability to convene and engage diverse stakeholder groups around common initiatives and drive action.
- Cultural competency and deep commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, with experience integrating these values into operational practices and culture.
- High level of business acumen and financial competence, developing and managing budgets, complex grant management, and reporting.
- Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills, translating data into meaningful insights, and utilizing data-driven insight to impact systemic change.
- Excellence in organizational management with the ability to lead and develop high-performance teams, define roles and expectations, and achieve results through a highly collaborative and transparent approach.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent project management skill set, translating vision/strategy into milestones, work streams/action plans, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure goals and outcomes achieved.
- Conducts all activities with integrity in alignment with the principles of ProsperOK.
- The position is based in Tulsa, OK and offers flexibility for a hybrid work schedule.
- Typical work hours are Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm and requires occasional flexibility for travel and evenings or weekend events.
