Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY:
The Web and Digital Specialist supports the Web and Digital Coordinators for OSU Center for Health Sciences and is responsible for assisting with the design, development, and support of the university’s digital communications. As part of the External Affairs team, the Web Specialist is customer-service focused and achieves marketing goals utilizing technical knowledge combined with strong written communication skills.
The Web and Digital Specialist plans site page layouts and navigation within OSU’s content management systems (CMS), including the university’s proprietary CMS and WordPress websites, using established templates and following brand guidelines in partnership with team members. The Web and Digital Specialist will also assist in the design and development of email communications using hard code. This role requires ensuring all digital designs meet accessibility standards.
Additionally, the Web and Digital Specialist will contribute to the creation of guidelines, learning materials, and research to support understanding and best practices for OSU’s digital systems and accessibility standards. They may also develop resources for other digital-related topics as needed. The Web and Digital Specialist will conduct and report analysis of site traffic, Google reviews, and other digital analytics.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

REQUIRED:
- Associate’s degree in web development/design, Management of Informatic Systems, Digital Marketing, Strategic Communications, Interdisciplinary or equivalent experience
- Two (2) to five (5) years of professional web development or design experience; or equivalent experience
- Valid Driver's License

SKILLS, PROFICIENCIES, KNOWLEDGE:
- Expertise in HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript for web and email development.
- Proficient in Content Management Systems (CMS) like WordPress and custom solutions.
- Knowledgeable in web accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design strategies.
- Skilled in graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Capable of creating and troubleshooting hard-coded HTML email templates.
- Understanding of responsive web design principles.
- Proficient in Google Analytics and digital analytics tools for website performance monitoring.
- Experienced with ADA compliance tools and conducting accessibility assessments.
- Familiar with developing responsive, user-focused web pages that follow brand guidelines.

Preferred:
-Experience in an academic setting
-Experience with Omni Update CMS
-Experience working with email marketing platforms and building HTML-based email templates.
-Familiarity with ADA compliance tools for accessibility testing.
-Bachelor’s degree
