Device Engineer - Digital Workplace (Remote)
This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.
The Systems / Device Engineer role is an individual contributor within the Device Engineering team, part of the Digital Workplace Technology organization which drives the Bank’s end user platform. This engineer will responsible for designing and delivering desktop and endpoint management solutions for the bank’s 20,000+ technology end users.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent communication and collaboration skills and is well versed in all phases of desktop and endpoint management. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Group Policy Management, and Windows Operating Systems is required.
The position is remote, however occasional travel to FCB Hub Locations will be required.
Staffing Need:
Design and Implementation: Develop and Design Desktop Management Solutions, Processes, and Workflows. Create and maintain system documentation and operational runbooks.
System Maintenance: Monitor, maintain, and optimize desktop environments and solutions to ensure high availability, performance, security, and compliance. Collaborate with internal and external partners, transition support and maintenance to operational teams.
Troubleshooting and Support: Handle escalations, diagnose and resolve system and desktop issues, provide technical support and training to IT Operations and Support personnel.

Responsibilities
- DESKTOP COMPUTER OPERATING SYSTEMS – Contributes to the design, build, test and deployment of desktop operating system standards utilizing desktop management tools, scripting tools and centralized directory policies to expand, reduce and control access. Maintains knowledge on new releases and continuously builds for onboarding them in the enterprise.
- MULTI-TIER AND CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE – Contributes to the design, build, test and deployment multi-tier on-premise and cloud-based solutions that deliver end user services. Configure and optimize server operating systems and databases for maximum availability and resiliency. Build dependable disaster recovery strategies pairing high availability technology with business continuity processes.
- CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT – Contributes to the design, build, test and deployment of configurations as part of a configuration management system to efficiently distribute operating system upgrades, patches, drivers and software in a global network.
- TEAM PLAYER – Acts as a team player supporting peers, department management and business unit leadership to fulfill operational service levels, department initiatives and project deliverables. Believe in and adopt a “70% agreement, 100% commitment” attitude.
- DOCUMENTATION – Contributes to high quality roadmaps, strategies, architectural designs and project plans to publicize the work of the department and develop the knowledge of others. Can build and document procedures to sustain a large financial organization.
- AGILE WORK METHODS – Organizes work and continuous improvement ideas through effective Agile iterative work planning and execution. Able to adjust to changing priorities on the fly. Maintains a keen eye on opportunities to improve user experience, efficiency, regulatory compliance, or cost savings.
- CHANGE MANAGEMENT – Learns and follows the banks change and release management processes.
- RISK MANAGEMENT – Understands and applies a risk-based approach to work prioritization and delivery. Can assess technology solutions for risk through multiple lenses and articulate effectively with risk partners and leadership.
- SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT – Act as an expert resource for multiple DWT technology stack components. Stays abreast of industry trends and technology advancements and assesses their value to the bank.
- TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT – Act as a tier 3 support resource and assist lower-level support groups with resolving complex desktop issues. Engage and involve solution providers’ advance support as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Systems engineer and systems programmer OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Systems engineer and systems programmer
Skills/Experience:
- 5+ years working with desktop operating systems management and infrastructure
- 3+ performing desktop engineering in the financial industry
- 1-3 years in an Agile delivery environment
- 1-3 years using Jira, Confluence or Azure DevOps
- Familiarity with the FFIEC Architecture, Infrastructure, and Operations Book and applying regulatory requirements to technology operations

If hired in North Carolina, the base pay for this position is generally between $110,000 and 130,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
