Job Summary

Under general supervision, receives the public, provides information and performs a variety of tasks related to voter registration by performing the following duties.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions

  • Receive, sort and process Oklahoma voter registration or absentee request applications into the Modern Election Support Application (MESA) system.
  • File and maintain central registration records.
  • Process voter registration cards.
  • Process and double check voter credit per election.
  • Process absentee ballots.
  • Alphabetize, redact and double check absentee voter credit per election.
  • Assist with processing voter absentee ballots in open board meetings.
  • Assist department in nursing home absentee voting processes.
  • Assist with data entry in Precinct Official department.
  • Assist in Precinct Official assignments and training for each election.
  • Organize and maintain department specific files.
  • Receive the public, answer incoming calls, determine nature of business and supply information as authorized or route calls to appropriate supervisory staff.
  • Certify voter information requests for copies.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail using mail room machines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
Skill in customer service; in maintaining records and files; in typing; in utilizing various Office machines; and in operating a personal computer.

Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures; of voter and election regulations and statues; and of Tulsa County and the voting precincts.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to exercise tact, patience and courtesy in dealing with others; to speak clearly, distinctly and in a pleasing tone; to detect clerical errors; and to cooperate and work with others.

Supervisory Skills
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year full-time paid employment.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumferences, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, of diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management software, Database software. Internet software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Valid OK Driver’s License
