Position Information Position Title Coordinator of Academic Support Job Description The Coordinator for Academic Support reports to the Director of Student Access and and is mainly responsible for the review, first-responder, assignment, and closing of Starfish flags for the Student Success Team. The coordinator also monitors the usage of referrals in the system and oversees the communication flow to students, assembles Starfish reports as requested, works collaboratively with other campus offices, assisting in faculty and staff Starfish training, and assists with summer bootcampus and placement to support Student Success Initiatives.Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
- Assist students in applying for accommodations.
- Provide outreach to students registered with Student Access who are experiencing academic and/or adjustment issues
- Connect students to campus resources in a timely manner to support student success.
- Monitor Student Access email and Student Access Starfish referrals/flags.
- Notify faculty of approved student accommodations.
- Work with students to ensure proper knowledge and use of Access technology
- Support students in using accommodations properly.
- Perform executive functioning coaching and maintain a caseload of students.
- Assist in conducting workshops on applying for accommodations and executive functioning skill building
- Assist Student Access staff in supporting faculty with best classroom practices training
- Assist in programming and administration of New Directions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the director of Student Access.
- Remain knowledgeable and current about campus resources to effectively connect students with relevant and appropriate assistance ·
- Bachelor’s degree or previous work experience in a related field, especially in academic support.
- Experience with TU technology systems desirable.
- Experience with early alert systems and, specifically, Starfish preferred.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment, drive projects to completion, and act with a sense of urgency.
- Strong analytical ability to interpret and use complex data, logical and data-driven work style. Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective communicator, and empathetic listener.
- Self-starter who can prioritize caseload and provide consistent follow-up.
- A collaborative team player, who can coordinate work effectively with employees, and team members.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- High attention to detail, demonstrated practice of establishing effective priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Strong customer service with a can-do attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
Previous work experience at The University of Tulsa or other academic institutions; knowledge of the University’s accessibility information system.
