Job Summary: The Compliance Specialist assists with the day-to-day operations of the Corporate Compliance program within Saint Francis Health System (SFHS). This role participates in program activities and supports departmental systems and processes that align with the mission and goals of the health system.

Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED. Associate’s degree, preferred.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None. Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) from the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA), preferred.

Work Experience: Minimum 1 year of healthcare compliance experience. Experience within a hospital setting, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of Microsoft 365. Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and industry standards. Effective knowledge and experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems and other applicable healthcare systems. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, that present clear and concise information. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Superior ability to collect, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Works with team members to complete audits and other projects on the departmental workplan to support continuous monitoring of identified compliance risks and priorities. Assists with the maintenance of the compliance activity tracking database, audit system, and other related compliance software and tools. Helps with the development and care of departmental education and training materials. Supports and conducts research, root cause analysis and gap analysis for effective remediation and corrective actions. Aids in investigations of alleged breaches of policy, misconduct, or other acts of non-compliance to determine the cause, extent of loss and methods of prevention. Helps to ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place to promote regulatory compliance across the health system.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision.

Working Relationships: Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
