Summary Of Role
The Compliance Analyst II role will assist the Chief Compliance Officer and wider Risk Management team in developing and maintaining Vast Bank’s Consumer Compliance Program to ensure that the bank achieves optimum regulatory compliance. Key result areas include: identification, assessment, monitoring and analysis of compliance requirements and related processes and controls.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts testing to evaluate the Bank’s performance for compliance across all areas of the Bank, as identified in the annual risk assessment and testing plan, to determine whether internal controls are operating effectively or if gaps exist. Subsequently collaborates with affected corporate functions and business lines to identify the root cause(s) of issues identified during testing processes and assist in developing and monitoring corrective actions to appropriately respond to testing findings and prevent further occurrences of non-compliance.
- Assists in the periodic review and updating of department Risk Assessments and corresponding analysis and testing protocols.
- Conducts special studies including research and gap analysis to prepare reports for management determining the company’s potential exposure to existing or pending compliance regulation and cooperates with the appropriate staff in developing an effective response to the compliance requirements.
- Assist in responding to corporate functions and business unit inquiries regarding regulatory topics, customer complaints and other inquiries including monitoring for potential violations and training opportunities.
- Assists in the coordination and data gathering related to external audit and regulatory examination activities.
- Monitor various compliance surveillance and exception reports. Conduct periodic internal account/customer reviews to identify potentially suspicious activity. Completely and accurately document steps taken through the investigation process.
- Assists in the creation and administration of enterprise wide training initiatives. Including developing training materials for compliance-related policies, procedures and regulatory guidance.
- Assists administration and other Bank personnel on department business to coordinate inter and intradepartmental activities; resolves inquiries or issues relating to BSA/Compliance matters; participates in various internal committees as assigned.
- Review and critically assess current reporting systems in order to determine recommendations for maximum optimization.
- Assist in the general administrative and reporting tasks of the department as assigned. Including various system administration, conducting periodic assessment of third-party service providers, and updating of various workflow tracking the progress of department efforts.
- Makes updates to department procedures as necessary to align with current policy, industry guidance and use of external third-parties.
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Knowledge & Skills
Experience
Minimum 5 years of banking experience, with direct involvement to Compliance and Risk Management functions preferred.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
Bachelor’s Degree in business management./finance or equivalent.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on of significance.

Physical Requirements
Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics.
