What We’re Looking For:
The Compensation Manager is responsible for managing the compensation programs within 2U. This role will develop and implement compensation strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure fair and competitive compensation practices. The Compensation Manager conducts market research to determine salary ranges, administers employee benefits programs, and provides guidance to the People teams and managers on compensation-related matters. Additionally, this role analyzes and evaluates job positions, conducts salary surveys, and makes recommendations for salary adjustments and bonus structures.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Audits jobs for content and prepares job descriptions reflecting job responsibilities, activities, duties and requirements.
- Develops and/or participates in compensation surveys to collect and analyze competitive salary information to determine the company's competitive position.
- Reviews proposed salary adjustments for conformance to established guidelines, policies and practices.
- Recommends corrective or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related problems.
- Reviews requests for new or revised classifications to determine appropriate salary grade assignment.
- Formulates recommendations regarding development of salary structures, FLSA exemptions, and job revisions.
- Reviews existing and proposed statutory requirements governing compensation administration and recommends appropriate courses of action.
- Prepares special studies and recommendations on sales and incentive compensation, bonus plans, and stock options including administration of domestic and/or international programs.
- Develops, implements, and administers compensation policies and programs.
- Partners with the Communication and Learning and Development team to create materials for compensation practices, processes and programs.
- Plans, administers, and drives the annual compensation cycle which includes, salary increases, merit increases, and promotions.
- Develops compensation training for Managers and the HR team.
- Consults with subject-matter expert to ensure compliance with SOX, internal policies, and local labor laws
- Partners with the HRIS team to ensure data integrity and proper configuration of processes in Workday
- Trains, coaches, mentors, and develops team members
- Performs ad-hoc reporting and other compensation processes as needed.

- Bachelor's degree required.
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- Handles the most complex issues.
- Possesses expert knowledge of compensation administration and practices.
- Able to build strong working relationships with teams and key stakeholders;
- Demonstrates ability to effectively engage with peers and teammates
- Able to function in an collaborative and supportive team environment
- Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Possesses exceptional project management skills and can effectively balance competing priorities
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills and demonstrate proficiency with PowerPoint
- Experienced with Workday preferred; comprehension of HR systems required
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment

While this position is open to remote candidates across the U.S., we will prioritize those who live in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area and who are available to come into our Headquarters in Arlington, VA two days a week.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is ($130,000 -$140,000, with potential bonus eligibility. Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, budget for the position and cost of labor in the market in which the candidate will be hired.
