OVERVIEW

- FULL TIME

The Communications Manager is responsible to collect, create, and develop compelling content for the student audiences across cohorts, with a specialization in international and graduate student populations. Manages the delivery of campaigns to audiences through the execution of strategic communication campaigns following the calendar, while consistently evaluating and optimizing their effectiveness with the leadership team in order to support ORU’s aggressive enrollment goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a primary content author and creative editor of communication campaigns, with a specialization in international and graduate recruitment and retention efforts, to include yearly communication nurture campaigns.
  • Follows industry trends in assessing impact of communication plan needs. Incorporates compelling key messaging specific to audiences noted and creates calls to action into content including e-campaigns, web pages, social media, letters, brochures, postcards, presentations, booklets, etc. Additionally, reviews and refines content of outsourced communication efforts.
  • Liaises with departments to stay abreast of market trends, program changes, department goals, upcoming events, and other information unique to these populations to ensure that communications and campaigns are appropriately tailored and students stay effectively informed.
  • Responsible to gather stories, obtain and create compelling, specific content to ensure a robust repository of current content that is major/program/interest specific will be ready to be used and tailored appropriately for specific audiences as the need arises.
  • Responsible to build and report on supporting enrollment campaigns, as directed, to align efforts and assess effectiveness of overall outreach. These campaigns will include but not be limited to: e-campaigns, digital targeting, social media, direct mail, calling, texting, etc.
  • Analyzes success of individual campaigns across all cohorts, yield rates on calls to action, etc. and refines messaging to implement reactive measures as needed to achieve optimum results.
  • Works on all projects as assigned to complete 90% of all projects within requested timeframes for quantity and quality assurance and production of pieces. Interfaces with and maintains a strong working relationship with Directors, Deans, External Affairs, Administration, Student Life, Data Science, third party marketing and vendors throughout the process when necessary to reach the best results.
  • Hires and manages student workers as assigned.
  • Provides event support and assistance at recruitment and other special events promoting the University as assigned.
  • Participates in special projects, meetings, and committees as assigned.

COMPETENCIES

Knowledge & Experience

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in related field, such as Advertising; Public Relations; Convergence Journalism; Communication; Digital Media; English; Journalism; Psychology; Business, etc.
  • Requires two years of experience as a content developer, strategist or writer with outstanding editing skills.
  • Experience in writing for the web and email campaigns is essential. Experience using email marketing platforms such as Pardot, Fire Engine Red, Mailchimp or Constant Contact is strongly desired. Experience using a CRM is desirable.
  • Experience in a University setting is preferred. Experience with ORU and its features and benefits are beneficial.

  • Work within project deadlines and maintain quality.
  • Use sound judgment regarding organizational and departmental regulations, procedures, and policies.
  • Be able to multi-task in the midst of a fast-paced office environment.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times, especially for the purpose of receiving and transmitting information.
  • Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft software, to include Word and Excel. Proficiency in other software programs would be a plus.
  • Provide examples of a variety of written work.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality of information.
  • Maintains compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policy and its procedures.
